Don't care, personally. $50 dongle installed first month I got my Bronco and haven't even thought of ASS since. Keep it disabled in my Bimmer. If they gotta keep having it, I'll just figure out a way to disable and go on my merry driving way.

Highly unlikely that auto manufacturers will remove it from vehicles, and highly unlikely dealers will disable it in the software. Because when the administration changes, you can bet a lot of the rules will come back in some way.

I COULD see auto manufacturers doing something similar to what they've done for DEF trucks - derate when DEF runs out doesn't kick in until something like 1000 miles after empty. Maybe they'll finally make vehicles remember the last setting of autostart/stop.

That said, it's a button on the dash. Make it part of your startup routine - press start button, press autostart/stop button to turn off. I have the habit of pushing it twice, forcing a third push, because when I start my truck I have to push the exhaust brake button twice to set it to auto mode.

I am more hopeful that manufactures have $learned$ what has been a very expensive lesson that has been regulation, incentives, and top-down political pressure of the last 10 years or so, and are going to be very cautious about future implementations of this or that "technology".

There is nothing in it for them to go through the expense/support of help customers disable ASS in their current cars, but I expect to not see it in future products and even with the inevitable change of administrations, I expect them to be less willing to follow this or that "directive", fleet EPA regulation - for example, in the future they will be willing to pay $1 billion (or more) in fines through the tenure of said administration rather then waste $10 or $20 billion tooling up and building products the public does not actually want.

Good old fashioned Capitalist self interest and long term planning is making a roaring comeback in corporate board rooms after the utter debacle of the EV "revolution"...

So now my '23 Badlands will fetch a premium if I ever decide to sell (I won't).
It has Auto Stop and your new '27 doesn't...Na Na Na Naa Nah.
Just have to find a buyer that likes ASS.

It's not a matter of Forscan not offering the option, it's a matter of the ECU programming listening to the configuration. My daughter has a B-Sport that I disabled ASS with Forscan with a few clicks. My Bronco I installed https://www.autostopeliminator.com/products/2021-ford-bronco-autostop-eliminator and never looked back
I'm well aware of the aftermarket options. The question is whether the ECU is locked down for 24+ vehicles and as a result the Forscan route was no longer an option, or whether Forscan disabled the ability to avoid the wrath of the EPA.

Don't forget that it wasn't long ago that the EPA vigorously went after tuners who were disabling emission control components in vehicles. It is possible that Forscan deleted that capability to avoid being the target of the EPA.

Fairly confident it was Ford changing how the ECU evaluated ASS, and folks with Forscan just not being able to keep up with the changes. Remember that Forscan is pretty much entirely reverse engineered by people who are just willing to poke at things and see what happens.

You can still use Forscan to disable it on MY21 and most MY22's I believe.

You realize there are plenty of people who...like auto start stop right? Or don't even realize they have it? (I am not one of those)

Your post sounds like the govt outlawed trucks or that they forced Ford to stop selling gas guzzlers or something. While meanwhile Ford decided on their own to stop selling 90% of their cars, develop a new big block v8, etc.

Yeah I used that same autostop eliminator on my '21 and it works great - install was pretty straightforward if you can handle basic wiring.

The developers of ForScan are in Russia. They probably give the middle finger to the EPA.

Really? So you actually know people anyone who LIKES auto-stop-start? They specifically "like" it? Not just "don't care" about it, or are indifferent, but they enjoy the feature enough to say they like it? Fascinating!
