I work with her, she's pretty awesome.
Yeah, she's the one with the flash box. Met her when my wipers got serviced.

Seriously though, I don't know anybody who buys a Bronco for safety reasons. Jesus, the 70-0 stopping distance is a full 20 feet past the competition. Ain't no headlight gonna fix that.

It's pretty much any vehicle with std LED headlights...just not enough heat generation to melt snow/ice in certain conditions. It is rather interesting, in the anal-safety ridden FMVSS/NHTSA/IIHS/et al... that there is no standard for LED headlight deicing..... 🙄

You guys will have a rough time here if saying that a comment was "Karen" is that much butthurt... Was it unnecessary almost definitely... was it an opinion surely... lets meet up so you can call me Karen and I can implied physical violence... wow.. So I'd suggest I work with a tiny old lady named Karen that is an old school biker chick that could whip all our asses...

On a side note, implying everyone at Hammertown knows you is kind'a a bold statement too.
Not everyone at Hammertown, I said staff.

I will say to be called a "Karen" for no reason than me thanking someone for posting a link is pretty chicken s---!

No violence intended, but be man enough to say it to my face not behind a stupid keyboard.
No reason for the comment!
Yes it pissed me off

MY APOLOGIES for reacting!

I know there are a few threads on this. Heating elements seem nice but wouldn't blasting the light with washer fluid work too to remove buildup?

A washer kit (nozzles, tank, pump etc) is under $20 on amazon.

I just ordered one (theres a kemi moto one and a bunch of others for a couple bucks less). Will try to install and aim somehow and post pics.

Almost got myself and my son killed driving thru a storm to go skiing last year. I thought I was terrified on the interstate, but then when i got off in the mtns things got really fkn dicey. Lots of bourbon that night at the cabin.
A guy on the FJ forum retrofitted headlight washers. He just teed off the windshield washers. This would save finding space for a tank/pump if the Bronco's pump volume is sufficient.

The only thing I need to figure out is where to best mount the nozzles. My best guess is somewhere on the black plastic grill, but the bumper might work if the nozzles can be aimed properly.

I don’t think an apology is needed. I used to get mad at the rain on my head. So I bought an umbrella.

< SNIP > There is nothing about Bronco headlights that make them worse or better than any other headlights. If anything the headlights on my Mazda which are horizontal pick up more snow and ice. < SNIP >
Vehicles I've had that had headlights that didn't ice up in the snow:
'88 XJ
'96 Explorer Sport
'01 Audi A4
'05 Xterra
'13 TDI Wagon
'17 Golf Alltrack
'19 GTI
'14 JK (In fairness the stock headlights absolutely sucked but the KC replacement H4's are much better. Maybe should have sprung for heated LED's however, less than $600.)

Vehicles I've had with headlights that do ice up:
'23 Bronco (In fairness the best non-snowy headlights I've had bar the GTI)

And yes, stopping to deice them can be a big deal, for example on a 2-lane highway in Manitoba.

Just curious, how many of the above listed cars had LED headlights? Probably none but possibly the '17 and '19 VWs?

Agree, stopping in the middle of a snow storm to de-ice your headlights is a big deal and can be dangerous. I had to pull over several times on I25 in Colorado before I bought the heated Oracle headlights.

Count me in as quite surprised the there isn't a FMVSS covering the performance of LED headlights in very snowy conditions. Of course, the manufacturers should do it themselves, but sometimes the big hand of gov't needa to push.

The GTI does. I am guessing they don't ice up because they aren't perfectly vertical like in the Bronco.

The stock JK headlights were almost as bad on a clear night as the Bronco's in the snow. The H4 KC's are very good -- not LED good, but they won't ice up either.

Yet the NHTSA was sufficiently worried that someone with a one percentile BMI might have been too inconvenienced to put on their seatbelt and issued a recall (that I am NOT having done.)
