I have a 2016 F150 with the 5.0. I've had zero problems since new. Only have 87000 miles on it. No oil consumption problems. Run Amsoil 5w30. Change every 5k

I have a bad azz one sitting in the garage, I use to have two of them. I first started messing with them in 2013 after they came out in 2011. They are excellent for swaps, but the Godzilla has taken a chunk out of that as its a smaller footprint. I think if I ever build/swap something now I would consider the Godzilla over it.

The title of this thread is a little misleading as it's only regarding F-150 engines. I've owned a Coyote and know other people that have and I have a hard time believing it's more reliable than the 2.3L EcoBoost. It's not a bad engine but they drink oil which makes them a little dangerous in the hands of owners that don't like to check their oil regularly.

When can we swap them in, my girl needs moar powa
I have a coyote and a 2.7 in F150s and the 2.7 absolutely destroys the coyote from a performance standpoint, especially when towing. Unless you plan to slap a supercharger on that V8, it will be a disappointment.

The new naturally aspirated 5.0 comes with 500HP in 26 mustang...that's 165 hp more than the eco 2.7...hardly a disappointment. 🤣

There's something to be said for a naturally aspirated engine with a manual transmission, though, that won't benefit an F-150 automatic.

I'd like to swap in the 7.3 Godzilla, NA modified to 600HP, with a beefy stick shift and twin-stick transfer case... it'd be stupid compared to an ideal solution but it would be my stupid. 😁

That combo in a Mustang would be more appropriate and rival Vipers for cool cars that try to kill you.

I'm willing to drop crawler and possibly 6th for a transmission that could handle either w/4x4 as an option

I want proper tuning already, not just this "Here's a Ford tune, have a nice day" crap

We have three coyotes in F150s and my son has one that is supercharged that provides great performance but the other two will not keep up with my 2.7. I also have a late model Mustang GT with the coyote and it is fine once you rev it up but low RPM grunt is minimal. Don’t get me wrong, if the bronco came with a coyote I would get it because I’m an old guy and would love to have the great sound instead of the fart can mess you get from a four-cylinder or a six cylinder, but I certainly wouldn’t do it for performance. The 2.7 in my bronco is a monster if you even breathe on the throttle a little bit and I like that kind of responsiveness. The 2.3 in my bronco is merely adequate, but I wanted the stick so I put up with it.

Big fan of the Coyote engine, but I wouldn't say the 2.7/3.0 is less reliable from my personal experience.

Back before my Bronco journey began I had considered buying a base and swapping in the twin turbo coyote out of my F-150 into it, but ultimately decided against it.

I daily drove that thing for years and ran Rocky Mountain Race Week one year. I still itch for another single cab boosted 5.0 truck.

Yes. Probably the most common issue with the 5.0
The 5.0 in my 2012 GT burned about a quart between changes. I think that was the first gen Coyote. Ford likely resolved the issue (current is 4th gen?). Hopefully the hapless MT-82 trans issues were fixed, too.
