Still will trust the 2.7 over any other ecoboost. I still believe if V8s had to be killed Ford was looking for it to be the coyotes replacement (I’m so glad they didn’t kill it, it’s an amazing engine)

Just burns oil but besides that, darn good motor
Mine hasn’t burned a drop . 100K plus. 2018 Mustang GT. Oh and my 5.0 In the 2011 F159 doesn’t burn oil either.

I bought the 5.0 in my '19 F150 over the 2.7 EB for simplicity's sake long term, plus sexy V8 noises. I know several people with the various EcoBoost sixes and they've all had turbo issues at some point.

That said, my truck's 5.0 needed a set of cam phaser solenoids at the 20K mark, so they're not necessarily bulletproof.

It’s the only one I’d buy in an f150. I’ve had a 3.5 in an f150 and the 3.5 in an expedition. Beautiful motor when it’s not dealing with coolant leaks, phasers, guides, timing chains, etc…

Awesome! My dad’s 2011 F150 burns a little but one of my cousin’s has a 2020 and it burns damn near a quart between oil changes

How many miles?

My '19 used oil until it hit about the 13K mile mark when it almost quit. It uses much less than half a quart between my 5K change intervals now.

I’m not sure how many miles he has on it now but it was doing it after 20-30k.

Had a 5.0 in a Mustang and drove the snot out of it without issue and had an F150 with the 3.5 EcoBoost and drove the snot out of it too and no issues. It's the more common story with these engines, but you can hear 100 horror stories because they made a bajillion of them!

Maintain your engines, know your environmentals, and never shut down a hot turbo right away

Cam phasers went out on my ā€˜16 mustang 5.0 at about 15k (of course it had a whipple supercharger on it)…the 5.4 in my old ā€˜05 f150 is still going strong for my cousin…don’t have many miles (under 20k) on my 2.7 in the bronco but ok power without trouble so far…
