Question. I just read in a post that the forscan upgrade for the svss pod speakers is not appropriate and doesn’t work if you have the BO upgraded factory stereo. Read only works on the base radio. Is that true. Thanks for any help

Thanks. So I bought the pods. With kicker speakers. Will it make a difference to install them or would it just be a waste?

Not a waste, but last I checked those pods loaded with Kickers is $400 or so. And for B&O I don't think it's worth the $400 price tag.

If you were planning other upgrades in the future, such as a new DSP/Amp, then it is worth it.

I know what an amp is. What’s a DSP? I was looking for just a little more volume and clarity especially with top off. I’m too old to be doing 12’s in. A box in the back with a 1000watt amp. Lol

DSP is a module that processes the digital signal. It replaces the factory equalization so you can customize the output signals to user preference + speaker & amp capabilities.
digital signal processor = DSP

1000 watts get delivered much differently these days vs. the 90's. Back then I had the dual 15's powered by a dedicated amp, but with the B&O you want that 1000 watts because it powers all of the speakers in your truck.

I'm running the mObridge amp with upgraded speakers all around, including the rear pods. It's a bit of work to install and tune the full system but the clarity and volume difference over the stock B&O is night and day. I absolutely love the stereo now even with the top down at highway speeds.

- There's no improvement to make with Forscan.
- Rear pods with quality 6.5"s will help fill out the sound a bit.
- Upgrading the subwoofer in the stock enclosure to an 8", blocking off the stock box's port, and wrapping everything in sound deadening will give a little more bass and tighten up the lows a bit.

But for a marked improvement you're looking at a DSP amp designed to handle the signals sent by the B&O system.

On the bright side, the finished product looks stock since the factory equipment stays put.

Thanks a ton. Yes a lot of that was a new language to me. Any idea who would be a good vendor to talk to about trying to add some of that. I’m fine with plug and play electrical, and good with mechanicals, but when comes to wiring and things like you described I would be in over my head. Thanks.

@mObridge sells a plug-and-play amp kit that's very complete. Bring your own speakers, or buy the amp bundled with speakers from Morel. The Morel option is nice because it's all top quality components and the amp comes already tuned specifically for the bundled speakers.

When I did my setup @RagnarKon was kind enough to drive down and spend a few hours walking me through the installation process, which shaved probably a full day off the process.

After that initial day I spent a few evenings buttoning up the truck. I still need to post an amp tuning write-up but this year's just gotten away from me.

If you can look past my own goofiness the video is chock full of useful tips.

You're looking at $3-6K hardware only for proper upgrade incl A to B module, decent DSP amp, 500W+@ 4 ohm sub amp, high density sub enclosure and sub, plus speakers, various wiring, fuses, splitters, connectors Tesla tape, sound deadening plus your time to install and tune. If need installer and tune it's another 2-3K.

Classifieds at DIYmobileaudio has lots of good stuff at 50-70% off. Don't get hung up on mainline brands it's all more or less the same especially in loud Broncos.

The system sounds pretty good with Audison / hertz speaker sway up until level 18 or so....after that it's $$$$$.

The wiring is easy with correct harnesses and basic common sense.

I stripped my mustang system all I need is an A to B module and 1-2K in 4" speaker and stealth 10" sub enclosure / maybe tailgate one plus 20 hrs install and tuning (very time consuming).

Mobridge amp all the way. For the sub though, at most upgrade the sub woofer with a drop-in option. If you care at all about low end hz then don’t even play around with modifying it. Gearshade makes options that are budget friendly or go with a tailgate mount.

Sorry if this is a question you get regularly, but with the factory amp is the kicker key a viable option? Does the factory amp get replaced by the kicker or is the kicker supplemental to the entire system? I'm a total noob when it comes to audio systems

This guy right here has helped me lots! Of course I have a 2023 and I put my ear up to the speaker back there I heard… crickets. But at least I’ve upgrade the dash and pods with the 4” Kickers. Did the Forscan a few minutes ago and it helps lots. Buuut I’ll be doing the amp and sub upgrade down the line. Is there a plug n play wiring harness besides what he has done? Says it can’t be shipped to 🇨🇦. Thanks!✌🏼
