I have my HOSS 3.0 sitting in a box if anyone wants to buy it. Took it off around 300 miles to put Kings on. Located in Austin Tx area

Technically…she doesn’t have a rear suspension at the moment…Y'know, yeah Ford released this suspiciously around the time they shafted the Bilstein folks with the RTV playdough. Yeah, yeah. But honestly, I think for those people who aren't paying attention, that's perfectly fine. Because who only replaces the rear shocks anyways? @SierraBronco deletes portals, but even he still has rear suspension.
Definitely the WildTrak absolutists who thought they had a special build between mid-2022 and 2024 are spinning in their armpits. But! We are all WildTraks (potentially!) now. I'm guessing I get the smear and clamp here soon. Yippee! Should I or shouldn't I replace it now or later?
Once I have that sweet black RTV, eventually I'll get new shocks. I figured anyways, but hey do I need Kings? 8112s? Icon CDEVs? Maybe I'll go 6100's, Or some "stock" Foxes. (Cool kids going Procomp, if they DARE!) I have a 4x4 after all, this stuff is really important. I just won't be going Bilstein ESCV. Once or thrice burned, it's the 4x4 life. Thank the LORD Ford saw fit to release these shocks, maybe, maybe....
That might be in another 100k miles, though. Or 10k. Wee! We having fun yet?
Seriously. At this point, I just assume... lol But yeah, I saw the photo on the (other?) thread. I'm actually really interested in how you're deleting the portals. Are you going long travel? Will you have the diff down low so it's only clearance in the front? Inquiring minds want to know. Maybe you've posted it somewhere but I've missed it.Technically…she doesn’t have a rear suspension at the moment…
I should go back through the thread to see if this has been answered, but…I’m not gonna-can one simply buy factory Hoss 3.0 shocks for less than these or are they the same? And the timing is rather convenient.

I’ll do a separate thread for it when everything is complete now that the build thread has turned into the 74L customer service hotline.Seriously. I don't say this lightly, but you're my hero. And BigMeats. Y'all can fight over whose Robin in that scenario. You're going Werewolf huh? Is it the ability to weld on 'em? Meanwhile, after the heat of the Texas summer maybe I'll get my Turn Offroad cages put on my tail lights. It's gotta be below 83deg though. One day.I’ll do a separate thread for it when everything is complete now that the build thread has turned into the 74L customer service hotline.
Yeah-rear will be long travel. And by that I mean moar long travel. This setup above will have 12” stroke coilovers but with the portal delete we’ll need to adjust for the height difference. Could just add preload, but…that’s no fun. 14” coilovers are better. Motion ratio of 1.33 on steel trailing arms as the steel slides better than aluminum plus we can weld on it (might be running the sway bar attached to the trailing arms. Gas tank is kinda being a bitch but we’ll figure it out.) The lower arm mounts are deleted so that opens up some clearance as far as things to get hung up on. Trailing arms mounts in the shock tower location so it’s a nice transition and not easy to get hung up on. Looked into a Ford 9” with 10” gears and a custom flipped center section but the locker options aren’t awesome and it’s hard to find gears that are truly reversed and suitable for daily driving vs drag racing. Unless you want to drop $11k on a really custom unit. Then you’ll still need to build a housing and buy axles.
Now we wait. Werewolf portals have been ordered and are about three months out. +4” custom D60 with OX locker has also been ordered. We will be dropping the gear ratio up front and was able to find a Dana gear ratio out back where we are only .22% off biased to the front. OEM’s have gone as high as 1.45%. Need to stay below 2% to keep the computer happy, but if you do the math for rev’s/mile with somethimg like 1.45% off it starts to add up. Could be a bit bindey on a trail like hells revenge
These are the 12” coils. Almost half her height at 32”I’ll do a separate thread for it when everything is complete now that the build thread has turned into the 74L customer service hotline.

I didn't know what a stroked coilover was, so I asked my buddy Claude. These are the 12” coils. Almost half her height at 32”The damn 14” coils are 4” longer so they should just take a tad of preload to level out while also being lower than the pre-modded shock tower travel.

Y'alls build is awesome. I'm guessing you just get them engineered to a spec? Is somebody selling these for 6g Broncos?A stroked coilover refers to a coilover suspension system that has been modified to increase its stroke length - the distance the shock absorber can travel through its compression and extension cycle.
In a standard coilover setup, you have a coil spring wrapped around a shock absorber (damper) in a single unit. When you "stroke" a coilover, you're typically:
This modification is popular in off-road applications like:
- Extending the shock body - Using a longer shock absorber to increase travel distance
- Repositioning mounting points - Adjusting where the coilover mounts to the vehicle to allow more movement
- Modifying the spring setup - Sometimes using different spring rates or configurations to accommodate the increased travel
The main benefits of stroking coilovers include:
- Desert racing - Where vehicles need maximum suspension travel to handle jumps and rough terrain
- Rock crawling - For better wheel articulation over obstacles
- Trophy trucks - Which require extreme suspension travel for high-speed off-road racing
However, stroking coilovers often requires additional modifications to the vehicle, such as clearancing wheel wells, adjusting bump stops, and sometimes relocating other components to accommodate the increased suspension movement.
- Increased wheel travel for better traction
- Improved ability to absorb large impacts
- Better suspension articulation
- Enhanced off-road performance
Bigmeats is the real deal. His fabrication skills are vastly superior to mine and that Braptorizing setup he did on the front is amazing. I did feel pretty cool when he hit me up for brake bleed advice. Even batman needs a fresh perspective every now and then. (Not sure how much I helped though. He was already on the right path)I don't say this lightly, but you're my hero. And BigMeats. Y'all can fight over whose Robin in that scenario. You're going Werewolf huh? Rock Krawler did universal fitment out back and made custom 8” units for the front with universal mount on top and the Bronco spacer + mounting bar on the bottom. Coils are from Eibach but it was a collaborative effort between myself, Rock Krawler, and @87-Z28 to get the final rates. Then RK shimmed them accordingly. Up front is a 16” 550 lb/in coil. Rear is a stacked 12” 400 and 12” 500I didn't know what a stroked coilover was, so I asked my buddy Claude.

Yeah he is. He's a logger right? I always assume he's got some crazy rigs out on the mountainside.Bigmeats is the real deal. His fabrication skills are vastly superior to mine and that Braptorizing setup he did on the front is amazing.
Werewolf has a few advantages. 1.35 gear reduction gets us a larger pinion up front when we regear. Steel is stronger than aluminum AND weldable, as you mentioned. 5.5” of lift and while that puts even more leverage on the suspension mounts (this is why we strengthen) the additional lift gets us more useable uptravel before hitting the fenders, assuming the uniball can take it. No body lift this time so that 1.5” is made up for with the additional lift from the werewolves. We’re redoing the shock towers anyway so we’ll account for that by going 4.5” taller than stock instead of 3.75”. Rock Krawler made us a custom shim stack to account for the unsprung mass increase of the portals by increasing rebound on the new coilovers. We had them go a tad high so we shouldn’t need to change it for the werewolf portals.
Claude could probably tell you while also keeping your ego intact if you prompt it correctly.Yeah he is. He's a logger right? I always assume he's got some crazy rigs out on the mountainside.
I'm impressed by you and your lady's gumption. I once took my steering wheel off my Jeep cuz the sending unit went out. Three months later got it back together. I just walked (Denton's a walkable town). What's the opposite of gumption? Wait, don't tell me, I don't want to know.
