lowest PSI on road?

hi, every time I’ve been off-road I have not lowered the tire pressure on my bronco because I’m scared of ruining the tires when I’m back on road, since I have no compressor (getting the american advanture labs one soon) so there is no point in getting a portable one right now.
tomorrow morning im doing some moderate offroading and want to lower the tire pressure, but i will have to drive an hr back to the nearest pump (costco)
whats the lowest i can do for onroad driving?

Tire size makes a big difference along with load range … you might post that to help get you better responses.

Your sidewalls will get hot. Low tire pressure and Ford already have a bad history together.

That said, if I'm just going up doing fire roads, I'll drop to 25 psi, and still do 50-55 mph on the roads getting there and not worry about it too much.

I wouldn't get on the freeway though.

If I'm doing rocks and stuff though, 15-20 depending on where, I don't air down until I get to the trail, I don't do more than about 30 mph (asphalt or otherwise), and I carry my air compressor with me.

If you want to stay on the safe side you could look at the load rating for your tires and adjust from there. 35 psi is the cold pressure for max capacity. I run my factory sasquatch tires at 32-30 psi on the street. Wifey's 40 inch tires, while still being a C range tire, only need 24 psi for her bronco. When we go to an event for wheeling we only air down once. Checking the tires with the flir after a half hour at 45 mph and tire temps were under 90F, but again there are other considerations to factor in.

At the Moab Off-Rodeo, they set all broncos to 20 psi I think (read 23 while hot) and then we drove 20 miles on pavement to get to the trailhead. They only advised us to keep below 55 mph. This was with the Sasquatch tires.

I’ve aired down my load range E BFGoodrich all-terrain’s to five psi and there’s hardly any deflection because they’re such heavy duty tires. I would never run them that low, but it definitely depends on what load range tire you have on your machine.

it’s factory sasquatch tires
i have them at cold 39 psi planning on doing 15-20 for tomorrow, its only an hr drive on that low of psi on pavement.
so i think should be good but not too sure

You don’t need to drop to 25 on fire roads.

My commute involves several miles of dirt/gravel with a mixture of potholes and washboard surfaces in some places.

I run at stock air pressure. Not really a big deal at all.

Ummm….you do realize you don’t need to go to Costco to fill your tires, right?

Gas stations have pumps, typically free.

true but it is kind of a remote area so closest gas station might not have a pump, first time going there so not sure but i will keep that in mind

Might want to consider on board air? Home Depot runs sales as seen in a facebook group. Pick up Milwaukee 18vt compressor. It’s small and can use it anywhere
