Oh wow I wouldn’t have noticed had you not pointed it out, but yeah that’s … not optimal. Doesn’t look like any of the parameters have actual numbers except Speed.

Pitch and Roll and Tire Pressure have actual numbers starting at 1:09. Bummer that Oil Temp etc don't have numbers...

I used forscan to change the BCM VIN, FDRS to PMI the IPC, then forscan again to change the BCM back to my VIN.

So changing the VIN in the BCM tricked FDRS into pulling the correct files to program it with the PMI? I figured FDRS would be smarter than that and notice the VIN was changed. There are some "black market" fixes we use to fix certain things where the VIN is changed in the BCM and then changed back after the firmware is flashed, but we unplug the TCU to prevent the vehicle from syncing up with the mothership and Ford finding out the VIN was changed.

It may be a good idea for you to pull the IPC files from your laptop for people who want to do this in the future and don't have FDRS.

Fully understand. I'd have no problem taking apart the dash and installing the new cluster, however its the programing I'd not feel comfortable with. For those of us that do not have access to all the programing tools needed and are near your location, I'd think once this is rolled out the dealership would more than welcome this install as an income opportunity providing they would not overcharge for such a service. Perhaps you could talk this over with the powers that be at your location and put a quote together for this swap, parts and labor. I would not feel comfortable letting my dealer undertake this without having prior experience. Since you have succeeded, you have acquired the knowledge and gained the confidence from those of us looking to have this done.

It wouldn’t be cost affective at all. Our shop labor rate is far too high and all the upside would go to the dealership anyway.

Not to mention I’m the lone transmission technician at one of the largest Chicagoland dealers, so I’m booked out months for my normal work.

I really still have no interest to do it on the side either, but if anyone is local and you just want me to supply the parts and programming maybe we can work something out. No promises but I’ll consider it.

Yes. So FDRS will see multiple VINs when I try and start a session, but it lets you select which VIN is “correct”. So I just pick the BCM VIN which is the one that actually should have the new cluster and then it’ll allow the PMI.

Interesting! I assume it was done with CAN and not the USB? How long did it take to flash the IPC?

Just FDRS and a VCM 3 like doing a PMI on any regular module. Only took 5 minutes or so to PMI it.

This is the same way I do racks, programming them on a 7mt (no TCM) makes it even easier, I don't unplug anything, doing clusters on the side this way wouldn't be practical, as you'd have to tear the dash out to get to the connector...

I'm also thinking the market for it isn't as great as some here think, were talking a minimum of $2500 for someone to put a kit together with the parts including a programmed cluster and bezel, and that's if it's an established business that already has insurance to cover liabilities, (Panda is the best bet for this)

Otherwise, this really has to be a mod that people are willing to do themselves, including all various software and licensing issues.

That's amazing. If it only took minutes, I wonder if the module already shipped with the latest available software on it and all FDRS did was write the config with the PMI? Either way, it's an awesome mod!!! Congrats and kudos to you for paving the way for others.

Very possible. I was surprised also when it took no time at all. The module is only a few months old, so it would make sense that it’s already up to date.

Yeah I’m sure they will. This will certainly be easier than swapping the Braptor cluster.

You should read the rack-hack thread...very similar when replacing the pscm. Super Easy.
