Yikes. I have a 2021 but still only 19K miles on it. No cracks that I've seen yet, but I am expecting it. I agree with you about warrantee deadline. I opted for the 10 year extended warrantee when I bought it. This is no Toyota. I assumed there would be plenty of mechanical and electrical issues with Broncos as a new model from "Ford." I don't think my warrantee covers the top but there are many other reasons not to trust this car. I would be very afraid to own this car off warrantee.

I was just reading the 2025 Consumer Reports car review issue. As you'd expect, the Bronco is near the bottom of the SUV list for reliability. Wrangler is in last place. Jeep is the lowest ranked brand overall and Land Rover and Rivian are #2 and #3 worst. Ford is in the 44 percentile of 32 brands.

In year one with my Bronco, I had more trips back to Ford for service and recalls than I had in my previous 20 years driving two 4Runners.
Not surprised with it at the bottom of the list. You're right, unfortunately the (Ford) extended warranty does not cover the top, just mechanical. I opted for the extended warranty also, covered to 80K.

Question -- does this happen more on 4Dr or 2Dr models (or doesn't it make a difference)?

I haven't seen anything yet on my 2Dr... but each passing day has me worried.

Finally -- what did your dealer say (or did I miss that)?

Cracks are showing on my 2 door on the C pillars directly behind the side windows.

MIC tops are defective trash. Ford needs to replace them with the painted or Mod tops.
I love my Fords, this is b.s. We are 4 years in and they still put this garbage out.

I am past the bumper to bumper warranty so I am awaiting a reply from Ford customer service. If anything, they will have it on record that their tops are shit.

Based on what I've seen in the forums, it's happening on both 2 and 4 door. It's the same crap from the same supplier. Taking it to dealer on Wednesday (along with a printed TSB on this) to get the replacement process going.

Did a wash this AM, and as with every wash, I look carefully at the MIC top as there seems to be a lot of failures. Well, have a crack starting in the center panel, behind the driver. Here is the background for information:
  • 2024 Outerbanks, purchased in August 2024 with less than 6000 miles.
  • Very light off-roading (smooth dirt trails), garage kept, Phoenix, AZ.
  • Always hand washed with mild soap, never put any solution, etc. on the MIC top...just wash and dry.
I suspect (contrary to the Ford fan boys on this site) that there are MORE failures than we know, not LESS. I know that forums "magnify" problems, but not every ford owner is on this site, nor will they post. Ford has had 4 years to work with Webasto to get this under control, and 4 years later....still problems.

I like my Bronco, a lot. I'll keep it while it's under factory B to B warranty, but then it's gone. Oh, and I know there are aftermarket har tops, but that ain't gonna happen. Paid $64K for it, and I'm not dropping another $4K on an aftermarket top. So I'll just keep watching it, bringing it in for warranty service, then "bye bye" after 3 years!

My warranty on my '22 OBX runs out 4/20, and mine is gone also. Ordered '25 Ranger, production week 3/10.

Just curious, does anyone know what version of MIC top is Ford at now? My very late '21 came with MIC 2.0 which supposedly (at the time) was to cure the issues. Other than some very faint honeycomb in a couple spots I have had zero issues...no cracks, bubbles, delamination, wind/water leaks, squeaks...it's actually held up quit well. One of the lucky ones I guess.

There's no way to know how many different changes have been made.
I can see 3 different part numbers for the 4 door and 2 for the 2 door, but that doesn't mean they didn't make changes to the top without changing the part number at some point.

Is there any way to figure out when each MIC top was produced? Any serial-number, etc. on the top on each Bronco?

Welp, it convinced me. I ordered the Turn Offroad top instead.

Solid choice. Glad I could help take a sale of a POS MIC top away from Ford.

I'm wondering if a polyurethane clear coat will help prolong the life of the MIC top.
I'm sure you've heard the expression that you can't put lipstick on a pig? Much is the same here, although you may extend the life a bit, there's no fixing something that is so fundamentally flawed from the inside out. They crack, they delaminate they have bleed through along with other problems. Don't bother.

We can blame Webasto, but the bottom line is Ford is clearly not holding them accountable.
Yup. I'm confident Ford set the budget for the part and simply demanded it way too low. I wouldn't even be surprised if Webasto told Ford in advance that there will be problems with such a cheap and bad design. Ford the rolled the dice.

Mine has this tag...not sure if they all have this.
