Did a wash this AM, and as with every wash, I look carefully at the MIC top as there seems to be a lot of failures. Well, have a crack starting in the center panel, behind the driver. Here is the background for information:
  • 2024 Outerbanks, purchased in August 2024 with less than 6000 miles.
  • Very light off-roading (smooth dirt trails), garage kept, Phoenix, AZ.
  • Always hand washed with mild soap, never put any solution, etc. on the MIC top...just wash and dry.
I suspect (contrary to the Ford fan boys on this site) that there are MORE failures than we know, not LESS. I know that forums "magnify" problems, but not every ford owner is on this site, nor will they post. Ford has had 4 years to work with Webasto to get this under control, and 4 years later....still problems.

I like my Bronco, a lot. I'll keep it while it's under factory B to B warranty, but then it's gone. Oh, and I know there are aftermarket har tops, but that ain't gonna happen. Paid $64K for it, and I'm not dropping another $4K on an aftermarket top. So I'll just keep watching it, bringing it in for warranty service, then "bye bye" after 3 years!

Here. Crack just getting started, and around the crack, the plastic is wavy, as if there has been water penetration (?). You know, the cardboard shit inside the eggshell thin plastic. Wasn't there when new. :)

Why wait? Sell it now before anyone can see the problem :sneaky:

So sorry to hear. It's even more frustrating for those of us who take such good care of our rigs.

What I very easily see here is the cross-cross imprinting pattern that plagued nearly every panel in my top.

There really needs to be a class action lawsuit here to take care of all of us in the post warranty period. I'm not there yet.

Best of luck with a better performing replacement.

Agreed. What's more frustrating is that "well, that's just a small crack", or "you can barely see it:" Doesn't matter. It's there. It's flaw in manufacturing. At over $60K, I won't just "live" with it. Getting it fixed--Ford owes me a new one--and will beat the shit out of this thing until my 3 years of warranty are up.

Ford quality, like other manufacturers, has gone down hill. For this top, it's simple math:

Beancounters at Ford + Inferior Supplier = Shit Product

We can blame Webasto, but the bottom line is Ford is clearly not holding them accountable.

Looks like some light delamination starting also. I agree with you...FORD failed us on this top. The issues should have all been corrected by now. I am keeping my Bronco and for piece of mind...I have an Armadillo aluminum top on order. Just waiting for the class action....it's bound to happen.

You can also see rippling and texturing in the top, it’ll be coming apart before long.

I think eventually all or most will fail to some degree. The ones that don't will be the exception. Ford really dropped the ball on this. They should have put a stop sell on these years ago until they engineered a proper fix. The fact that they are apparently still manufacturing the SAME top with the SAME problems years later is complete incompetence and will end up costing them far more than just fixing the problem back when it was identified in 2021.
