Does your amplifier have both high-level and low-level input capability?

I'm using the kicker Key 500.1 amp. i have it set up for the low level input.

If your using the output directly from the head unit (in-dash unit) that is a problem. The output is high level.
This is why you would want to also use an LOC. Using an LOC has the added benefit of (usually) providing more capability for tuning. You might consider calling Crutchfield. They could point you in the right direction.

Many amps including the Kicker Keys accept high level inputs. Is there an audio quality issue going that route? A LOC would also be inputting the same high level feeds, and then reducing them, what is the advantage?

I haven't used a LOC, but my understanding is the benefit is channel summing and some signal processing if needed.

I wonder why they is never a mention of the added weight of a door mounted sub.
I expect the need for added support for the door, especially when people are adding support for a slightly bigger tire, I'm sure the sub and enclosure adds even more weight!
Personally I wouldn't want to give up my Molle panel/fold down table and lose cargo space.

Yes, I have a wonderful, normally aspirated 991 911 S. That's a nice cross section you've had.

Definitely do the ForScan changes. Use high level input setting on the Amp although I will state that my button was reversed. Had me stumped for awhile before I figured that one out. Also did you download the music file from the Kicker website and let the Key 500.1 do its own setup ? You need to do that to set the gain correctly. That made the 3rd biggest difference. 2nd was ForScan and 1st was finding the reversed input switch I left my box ported as it is a fairly well tunned transmission line ported enclosure for most 8" subs. I used polyfill inside and placed Killmat on the exterior of the enclosure also. Everyone that has heard mine says it is better than anything they have heard in a Bronco (compared to stock looking installs).
Also I had a rattle that sounded like a voice coil going out after about a month but when I took the rear qtr panel back off it was the factory box bolt at the top. It had pulled the captured nut loose from the body. Replaced it with a straight through bolt of my own and no further issues.

BTW-owned a shop that did high end installs for 20 years, 88-2008,

I started with a boxster then got a 99 911.. loved it got featured in a couple articles with the custom body kit a made for it. love those cars. now my toy is a vette but I'm looking to get a Porsche again soon.

I did rip into it over the weekend and I was able to improve the sound bit. still undecided if I want to add a sub or not.

I gotta be honest, I just adjusted my Spotify equalizer and the entire B&O system woke up. Clear thumping bass with the existing BS speaker. I left the 60Hz freq a bit high and turned down the 150 Hz almost all the way.

Apple Music has a lot of pre-configured EQ settings .. found under Settings -> Music -> EQ

That said, I was playing with them the other day and couldn't notice them really change too much. The Spotify EQ had a lot more impact. And unless you are running Apple Music on a PC/Mac, you can't do any adjustment, just use the pre-configured options.

There are apparently also 3rd party EQ apps that work with Apple Music, I haven't tried any of them.
