Carplay/Sync no audio intermittent issue

This has been happening to me pretty regularly after all the recent updates. It’ll even sometimes happen mid song. In my case though, rebooting the head unit does resolve it. Just not great that I’m distracted by this while driving.

N.B. The ford software update this week, 23-PU1024-6CH-AUD, does not fix this issue.

That update is for the DSP (maybe the ACM?). It won't do anything to address this particular problem.

Recently 1 out of 3 vehicle starts has been happening for me. Only restarting phone corrects it. Resetting radio, changing sources does nothing. Although on Ford side. The radio will display CarPlay and play FM. Resetting radio fixes that.

I’ve been getting this too on my 22 Wildtrack w mid pkg. I’ll start the vehicle, my iPhone connects via CarPlay, the song plays using the phone as the source (Spotify or Sirius/XM) but there is no sound. I reset the Sync system by push/hold the power and forward buttons at the same till Sync reboots. Easy to do, but happens more than it should. Same happened in my 24 Chevy Suburban when new, but not recently. Makes me think it’s a Sync issue and not the iPhone…

@CrystalRedTintCoat outlined it pretty well. It happens only when the Bronco sits for a short period of time after driving. I tend to believe it happens whenever it’s unlocked during that time but haven’t tracked enough to be sure.

But I feel for those of you taking so much effort to reconnect. @Brian_B provided the easiest solution - Hold Power + Fast Forward for a few seconds. SYNC will reboot and you’ll be connected in about 20 seconds.

It is super annoying and hard to believe it’s still not fixed.

This works for me. Happens a few times a week on my 2024. It's annoying, but at least the workaround is pretty simple.

This is the SSM from Ford. The update brings the truck up to 24127. I assume that is the update because ever since I installed it on my truck, the phone connectivity was GREATLY improved.

No sound through carplay (via wifi) only happens in my Bronco. Doesn't ever happen in wife's bmw. I found disconnecting wifi and reconnecting phone solves issue.

Happens often in my 24 heritage as well

Having issues in my 24 Heritage as well - they just started yesterday actually so not sure if it was a recent update - any recommendations ? Almost had an accident trying to answer my phone is how I found this issue because the entire time it was showing connected on screen but no sound - didn’t know what was happening . Be aware and careful ! Still reading through thread - any fix yet ?

Happens in my 23 Badlands about 15% of the time I get in it. What I've noticed when it does it, if you switch to another audio source (radio, Sirius) eventually carplay will reset itself (your phone will disconnect and reconnect) then it works just fine. If you don't do the source switch carplay will happily continue playing in silence.

This fixes it every time for me too

Same issue on my wife’s 24 Heritage limited. But my Bronco Raptor and First Edition are fine. So weird

Happens to my 2023 as well. I turn off the engine open the door close the door and restart and it clears the problem. It's about every 3 to 4 starts.
