I know an inch makes lots of difference.
That’s what she said. 😜

Yes, I realized that which is why I deleted my post. Discount Tire has it listed as an option.
I like @Discount Tire but would double check the size prior to ordering.

I’ve been eyeing the Rebound Pros for awhile. Nearly wet my pants several weeks back when I saw DT had a version that was hubcentric (93.1) vs their near miss (95.1).

Jumped on the Icon site to see if they released something new. Couldn’t find it. Called DT and after a day or so of some back & forth, the rep called to deflate my hubcentric dreams and confirmed it was indeed a 95.1 hub and not 93.1 as shown on the site. He apologized and said they would fix it.

Today it still reads as 93.1. On the regular Rebounds the hub bore is correct but the weight is listed as 15.2# which I believe is an error too.

Not knocking them, they are great to do business with and I prefer them over most but definitely double check specs.

Here's another option if you're not set on BFGs: 285/75R17 Toyo Open Country ATIII in Load Range C. These measure 34x11.5. We run them on our 2.3L black diamond with steel wheels and regularly get 19 to 20 mpg per tank on the trip computer with mixed driving. We also have about a 2" lift and run 1.25" wheel spacers. I'm very happy with the balance of on-road manners, off-road performance, looks, and mpgs. They fit without removing the crash bars as well.

That is certainly an interesting choice. I also noticed that in 2026 BFG is coming out with two interesting tires

The 35x11.5x17 in load C is particularly attractive for those of us looking for a robust 35 inch tire without excessive width or weight. My guess is that it will weigh in the very low 60s. 2026 is a long time away though.

FYI Toyo also offers the OC ATIII in a 35x12.5x17 load C that weighs 59 lbs:
1728669018106-n1.jpg
That is an amazingly light tire for its size, almost as light as the Territories. And the same weight as the 285/75-17 in C load. However, the Outdoor Auto guy on YT claimed that the only Toyo OC AT/IIIs that have 3-ply sidewalls are the E-load ones. Can someone confirm or deny? Is there a reliable source for this information online. Every spec sheet that I have seen is completely silent on the the sidewall construction.

Are the sidewalks 3-ply or 2-ply? I wish that information would be listed by the manufacturers but they insist on making life needlessly difficult for their customers

My 33" KO2s are around 10kmi from the graveyard and I have started contemplating my choices.

The new KO3s are supposedly better wet than the KO2s but most of my driving is around the desert SW so wet traction is not that important.

BFG has made the KO3s meaningfully heavier than the KO2s so a 35" KO2 weighs as much as a 33" KO3.

MPG is important to me, the BD is also a DD. I currently get 18.8 mpg city driving a d don't have any interest in dropping below 18.

I don't go routinely on challenging trails, but a couple of times a year I end up on 4 and 5 rates trails, so I would like to retain good sidewall strength.

With all that, I am thinking the following ranking

1/ Replace with another set of 33" KO2s. If it ain't broken don't fix it

2/ Go for the 35" KO2s. I am on a 2" lift so this will fill out the wheel wells better and give me another inch of ground clearance, while preserving the off-road performance. MPG likely to get closer to 18 and maybe high 17s.

3/ Don't be a Luddite, get the 33" KO3s. Will come in handy the few times I go to the East Sierras every winter, but beyond that I don't expect much difference in handling. MPG should be the same as the 35" KO2s

4/ Or....? I am all ears for suggestions.

With all this in mind,
For reference, I went reference, I went from the kO2 285/7017 to the GY Territory 315/70/17 with the stock wheel and spacers. After adjusting the tie size with Forscan, it’s and .2 mpg lower. The GY is a very light tire. I am ready to replace the GY and I am looking at the Falken AT4 35x11.50. It’s a C rated tire and only weighs about 3 libs more than the 33” GY. I have wheels with a couple of people using them and they have great overall performance off road. Just another option.

Falken made the AT4w a heavy tire relative to the AT3w.The 35/11.5/17 is 69 lbs. The GYs are 55 lbs each in 315/70/17

Second this.
RTR 0mm offset + 315/70/17 LR: E = 19+ mpg.

I have a concern about the KO2 takeoff. KO2 is hard to balance. At least for me, I need to rebalance every 5k. It means 10 times in 50K lifespan. IF you add this to the total cost, it could be more than buying from Discount Tire. (e.g. Now KO2 315/70/17 c load is 270 per tire. E load can be found around 200 last year and you can request price match.)
Costco is getting g the KO3s soon. The cost includes lifetime rotation and balancing.

No idea, but we've put them through a decent amount of abuse and they have held up. Agreed on the marketing - it's intentionally confusing so that you can't make an objective comparison and instead trust the marketing dept (since they know what's best for you).

Should be stamped on the sidewalk if you get a chance to look in the coming days.

Checked the sidewall:
Tread: 2 Steel 3 Polyester 2 Nylon
Sidewall: 3 Polyester

These are the Toyo Open Country ATIII 285 75 17 in Load C

Thank you so much. Toyo also said that the 285/70-17 load C are 2 ply but the 35/12.5-17 are 3 ply. Kind of strange that the 285/75-17 and 35/12.5-17 have the exact same weight spec despite about an inch of difference in radius and nominally the same load index.

what sizes ?
Not sure yet. I was there the other day having my other car’s tires rotated and balanced and had a conversation with the service guy. He said they are coming, but had no additional details.

Costco is not particularly competitive with Discount Tire, which is all over the place in the Southwest. It is much easier for me to get in and out of a DT than Costco. And if I get an issue on the road it is far more likely that I will be near a DT than a Costco tire center.
