My Jeep didn’t count the milage when it was being towed. It appears the bronco does. Any chance that can be disabled? Perhaps through Forscan!

If your Bronco is racking up miles while being towed you’re not putting it in neutral tow mode correctly. Mine does not, nor should it.

I’ve towed mine nearly 12,000 miles and not one of those miles shows up on the odometer.

Tow it backwards on the return trip.
when you've got a new kid on the excavator, as part of his training tell him he has to count the revolutions he makes--because he'll have to go backwards that many at the end of the day to undo things.

You might want to check out the transmission, unless it's a manual.

Are you really sure about this? I mean like taking a pic of the odo before you start your trip and after you arrive. I have flat towed multiple vehicles over the years, including my Bronco for the last year and have never added a single mile from the tow. My first thought was that maybe you skipped the last step (Switch the vehicle off by pressing the push button ignition switch once). This would leave it in accessory mode, but even doing that shouldn’t allow miles to increase. We towed a Subaru that we had to leave in accessory mode as part of the flat tow process. If you really are adding miles while flat towing, you need to get it looked at. Please keep us posted on what you find out.

Aaand this is why it's a terrible idea to buy a used vehicle.

It's actually insane that it's legal for manufactures to disable the odometer while towing.

It's illegal to roll back an odometer for a sale but somehow totally fine to sell a vehicle with 10 thousand hidden miles?

you know, that's a good point.

Such a system should be able to document flat-towed miles.

I wouldn’t have a problem with that. As long as it separates driven miles from towed miles. I also want to know off-road miles while we’re at it.
