Originally was considering ordering a Shadow Black but then got talked into going with Carbonized Gray for obvious reason that the appearance of the black refinish will be hard to maintain and it tends to diminish over time. Sent the dealer my build sheet for CG Badlands and was going in on Sunday to put a deposit on the order. Saw a black Bronco on Friday. It had the murdered out look and was very sharp. Appearance wise shadow black tends to elevate Bronco's presence. It doesn't help very much that the wife is pushing for the black color as well....

Had a black Jimmy back in the day but the paint was lacquer based rather than the EPA compliant water base color. How hard is the current black refinish to maintain? I would consider professionally applied ceramic coat but then what is the maintenance required to keep that deep shine? It will most likely not be garage kept, that space is full of bikes. Thinking of keep it under a vehicle cover, but even the better covers leave micro scratches in paint.

Just imagine your dilemma if you had to pick an actual color and then try to coordinate it with the interior accents. Black or grey go with pretty much them all.

I had an exterior and interior color picked out and then the exact model I wanted showed up in front of me. Not the right colors.

it didn’t matter and the colors ford put out are fine.

Look around your area for black Rangers that are a few years old, they're made in the same factory so you'll get an idea of how black will hold up.

If you plan to off road at all black will show scratches and brush rash a lot. My rational was to get a non metallic color that hides all of that and is easy to paint match if damaged.

I had a black FJ and the paint looked pretty rough after a few years of off road use.

I love the Eruption Green Metallic and the Velocity Blue Metallic. If I was buying just for looks it would have been one of those two. Or maybe the Carbonized Gray Metallic. But knew I'd be going off road and would probably get the "natural" pinstriping added. Plus I wanted a color that was easy for a body shop to match without a great deal of difficulty. So grey it was. I settled on Cactus Gray. Doesn't show dirt (much) pinstripes aren't that noticable and a body shop can match it.

The color you choose depends on why you're buying your Bronco AND how long you intend to keep it. If it's going to be a fashion statement, then go for looks. Black looks great, but the sun is hard on black.

@Bschurr ha, ha with exception of few very serious threads here, nothing on this forum is a first world problem though at times it appears to be just that.

Don't buy new cars very often and even rarer if it's for me personally. Maybe my last new car purchase for a while. Wouldn't be in this position if both of these colors didn't appeal to me.

Surely, didn't mean to burden the good graces of the fellow forum members. It s a personal choice, I get it. From the practical point of view CG is it. However, the SB looks so darn good I just want to kick "practical" to the curb.

I think I'd do white on a do over. Don't get me wrong, I still love VB, it looks fantastic clean and in the sun, but it does show pinstripes pretty bad and white wouldn't. The 66 is going to be white.

All the colors look the same once you get them covered in dirt and mud. Black just shows the dirt off more better!

I've got CG, I don't mind it. It wasn't my first choice, but it's kinda like vanilla ice cream - it goes well with everything but doesn't exactly stand out.

It does not hide pinstriping very well though, but I guess none of them really do. But if your worried about microscratches, I think I'm already well beyond that... although I do use ceramic wax -- it helps get the dirt and mud off a lot easier.

Owned a black T Bird. Learned never to order a dark color again. That being said, if I was ordering today, Green would be my choice and I would deal with the dark side once again. BTW, life is way too short to blend in. Parking lots are overflowing with, black, gray and silver vehicles.
