What’s a descent brand of 6point standard and deep well 3/8-1/2 drive sockets. I need a new set for home use. So Snap on level pricing is out of the question. But made well enough to work on the Bronco. My current original Craftsman set from decades ago has become worn, missing and mismatched. See what turns up to be majority purchase lately by your responses. Sure I could just go buy a set. It’s always fun to see responses on forum and might be a deal out there I’m not aware of. Thanks

edit. While at it. Torx plus

Tekton seems to have some good items. I have one of the boxo tool rolls but they are expensive. There is a whole story I won’t go into. Kobalt is the other brand I have because of gift cards. Not a real fan of the ratchets but haven’t had problems with the sockets or wrenches. I got a couple of the 200ish piece sets and haven’t had problems with not having the tool I need for the Bronco so far. The boxo set is what I have used for the Bronco and haven’t needed something that the set didn’t have.

I replaced my craftsman impact sockets with harbor freight. Mostly for the convenience of the warranty and that I needed them same day. Not sure I would spend more unless you have good access to a tool truck. Harbor Freight is about the only tool vendor I trust to be selling tools for the next 10 years. Home depot and Lowe's have trimmed back their inventory due to theft.

Northern Tool also. Their store brand “Klutch” line is good enough.
last stuff for the camper I bought was either Northern Tool or Amazon (Techron I believe). I use tool truck tools at work (mostly Matco) only because of the convenience.

I’ve been moving from Craftsman to Milwaukee. Milwaukee doesn’t make a TP set yet though.

Another vote for Tekton here. I order direct from their website; free shipping over $25 and a rewards program. The quality is good.

Remember that the lifetime warranty is only good if it’s convenient to use. That kind of eliminates online sourcing.

I’ve got Craftsman. I like them. Although the quality of their ratchets has been spotty over the last few years…

I’ve had the same ratchet/socket 3/8 Kobalt set for a long while now and it’s held up ok

I’ve got a couple of harbor freight impact socket sets that I keep in the garage for a few years now too, and so far so good. It doesn’t see any abuse other than a standard Milwaukee impact and occasionally my cheater bar on an old craftsman breaker bar (that I probably need to replace soon - son finally tweaked it not too long ago)

I’ve been buying Neiko stuff off Amazon lately - it seems ok but haven’t had any of it long enough to really say. They got my axle nuts off a while back.

None of that is amazing go-out-and-buy-now, just telling of some stuff that’s held up.

I also have mostly Craftsman although experienced the same regarding the ratchets.

I also have some Harbor Freight impact sockets and they have been good.

some of my Craftsman stuff is 50+ years old…mostly lived through my mechanic days…but recent quality is on par with HF imho…ACE still carries them though, so handy…Dewalt and Milwaukee seem to be getting into the game…have Milwaukee mectic impact set I have been successfully abusing…even the China stuff has gotten “good enough“ for most folks…my tire shop uses HF floor jacks and my “vehicle” tools are mostly HF…most of the old quality tools are gone or lost quality to the point of near parity to everything else…good luck!

Most of my tools are Sears-era Craftsman. But lately I've been buying Gearwrench and Tekton.

Gearwrench's kits are awesome and if I was starting fresh today that's who I'd go with. You buy the Gearwrench 80966 kit and you have basically everything you need to get started.

Tekton I like because they have singles of everything, and the singles aren't horribly overpriced. So if I just need a tool here or there and don't need a bundled kit, I almost always buy Tekton.

For Torx Plus I've been buying Capri Tools, but it's too early for me to whole-heartedly recommend them. In the past I used a Neiko set, but it has not stood the test of time.

A couple of years ago I bought a cheap set of Hart brand tools from wally world. After two years of moderate use they are still in good shape. My home tools are a mix of older Craftsman, newer Craftsman, SK, and odds and ends I picked up over the years.

The majority of my main tool set dates back to Sears-era Craftsman and when that went away, I mostly now rely on stuff from Harbor Freight as its extremely local and there are plenty of them. I have not had any real issues with Pittsburg stuff, but I don't usually use a lot of impacts and I do have some impact sockets from HF and they seem to be just fine up to standard tq settings, I am not working on semi trucks stuff...
