For those with the (Weathertech-like) rear cargo floor protector, did you cut it in the corners to accomodate the factory tie downs? On the underside of the protector is an outline to cut on, is it accurate? What's the best tool to make the cuts?

thanks

I did the lines work and use a boxcutter/scissors the matt helps with antislip or without it have to tie everything down.

I have the Mabett cover and cut them to allow the loops to pop up through as I have a cargo net to hold my roof bags in place. I cut them with a razor knife (a fresh blade) being sure to take my time and go slow. I cut to the inside of the raised portion to preserve the 'well' so any liquid intrusion would not get on to the floor below. It seems to work well.

I will, once I measure where to cut.

The liner comes marked for non-slide out tailgate positions. The positions with the slide out tailgate are different.

OP here. I ended up cutting exactly along the pre-marked lines with a good, pointed X-Acto knife.

thanks all

A pic would be nice. I did not realize the outlines were back there.

I used a fine tip X-Acto knife with a fresh blade. No issues cutting. There are dashed lines on the underside of the factory Braptor mat where to cut. I used a black sharpie to dress the (lighter color) fresh cut. My liner around the cutouts is a little high as I had the liner upside down in my garage for a day, tomorrow it will settle down flat... Plus I store a fresh moving blanket and 2-3 towels under the liner....

I will use the tie-downs more than moving wet stuff so I decided to cut. Plus I have a small fresh heavy tarp within arm's reach stored on the rear Molle panel under my tool kit if I need to load wet stuff.

I do have the Weathertec rear mat.

I did cut slits for the cargo tie downs to come up through - just with a box knife. Simple H-shaped cuts so the hoop can poke up through, or you can fold them back down and the mat looks almost like it wasn't molested by a blind person with palsy and a knife.

My cuts weren't perfectly straight, which bothers me. But pulling the hooks up through the cuts does help the mat stay in place. Without it, it would slide backwards anytime I had anything on top of it. I tried rug tape, but it just matted up in the stupid carpet on the floorboard and made a mess.

Definitely a good idea if you might get it wet back there, even with the wash out flooring water ends up in the jack storage. And won’t dry out on its own.

I have not done that with the Weathertech mat. I am thinking of doing it because the mat does shift around and I was thinking that this may help to keep it in place. Also, the rear most edge is curling up which has not happened on the Weathertech mat I have installed in my 2006 Jeep Commander. The curling may be do to the mat sliding toward the tailgate.
