Mountains2Metal and the crew are excited to announce our NEW Flip Down Attic Shelf for the 2021.5, 6th Gen Bronco. This product does require the threaded holes in the roll bar that were not available on the earlier 2021 Broncos; those holes can be added if you are willing to drill some holes and add some rivnuts.
We are offering this product in two different sizes, one for the factory speaker pods and one for larger aftermarket speaker pods. If you plan on upgrading your speakers in the future, we would recommend getting the large speaker version. The large speaker version of the shelf is slightly smaller in order to clear the large pods.
This Attic Shelf is ideal for keeping those items out of the way that you may not need as often; such as recovery gear, air down/up gear, camping lights, blankets, or family photo albums. This allows for that otherwise empty space to be utilized as more cargo organization (along with our other cargo products *wink*wink*). Additionally, thanks to the tucked away placement of the shelf, you won’t have to worry about it impeding your line of sight!
When lowering the shelf we recommend unlatching one side, supporting the shelf with your free hand, and then unlatching the other side while guiding the shelf to the bump stops. For this reason, we do not recommend more than 50 lbs of gear on the shelf. Although the shelf will handle much more than that, safety is a concern when lowering it.
If you have a soft top and want to fold the top all the way back with your windows out, this can easily be done! Flip the Attic Shelf down and remove the thumbscrews on each side. Then push the roll bar arm bracket forward. You can then fold the soft top all the way back, making sure that the fabric doesn’t bunch up and catch any of the brackets. Once the soft top is all the way back, you can swing the roll bar arm brackets to the vertical position, and reinstall the thumb screws. The Attic Shelf can then be flipped back up and latched in place.

  • Patent Pending!
  • Made in the USA!
  • Tray is 14 ga HRPO Steel powder coated black
  • Brackets are 3/16ths and 12 ga HRPO powder coated black
  • Works with both soft top and hard top from the factory
  • Only compatible with the 4 Door Bronco
  • Utilizes factory holes- No drilling! (Unless you have the early 2021…)
  • Super easy installation!

Yeah, I get it... Not for 2dr.

But, seriously... Can't you design hinge brackets very similar to your version to where the tray stores in front of the roll / crash bar and swings down and to the back? Hmmmm..... 🤔

I would say most of the 2dr don't use the back seat other than with thier dogs and/or have done a seat delete.

Ladies and Gents...we do hear you and we do have some ideas. Unfortunately designs do take a while and we are a small company. We also make everything in house and can only do so much at one time. The amount of room behind the roll bar comparing the 4 door to the 2 door is night and day. Yes, we are thinking outside the box and have some sketches already drawn up. That is the best I can tell you right now.... we do love the 2 doors too!

Quick update as I spent a little bit of money yesterday moving closer to a solution. I stumbled on the OSD roll bar protectors, which have cutouts for the mounting holes. I ordered them from @StickerFab last night.
https://www.stickerfab.com/products...2022-2023-up-anti-roll-beam-guard-accessories

$35 feels like money well spent to get what will be a location reference template to drill those first holes. Between this, the brackets in the attic shelf kit, and the measurements that you found/posted here I should be able to pull this together without much issue.

I hope to have time for this in the next month or so.
Looking forward to hearing how it goes.
Thanks for the link.
I am ordering them too.

Found another benefit of the flip-down attic shelf -- I installed it with the @Dirtydog soft top headliner and now have the ability to flip back the headliner and run it strapped to the shelf rather than having to completely remove it when I want the open air feeling.

I just have 1 bungee around it here but it was all low-speed stuff. Add 2 more and I'd have no concern running down the highway like that.

I have a squeaking issue when it's loaded. I haven't figured it out yet. No noise when the tray is empty, except over a good bump. I think that is expected though. I have a noise that is like Styrofoam inside of a box when you are trying to pull it out. Super annoying.
Have you found a solution to the squeaking? If I lower mine it's quiet as a mouse, but I get the same styrofoam sound in the up position. I've tried some grease around the pins and latch and it seems to work for a bit them starts right back up. I've had it loaded for about two weeks and it just started to be annoying this week. Thanks

It might be because mine is stuffed tight to the roof, but I don't have any squeaking because it has nowhere to move

Lower the shelf, wrap the pins in 2-3 layers of quality electrical tape (Super 33+), push the shelf back up.

I added nylon washers to each side. I forget what size they were. I found them at Home Depot. Squeaking is gone.

Did you add these at the hinge point toward the back seats or where the basket clips in?

I added them at the hinge points. I figured if I stopped it moving there it wouldn't rattle or move at the latches/clips.
