I am finding the rear third break light to be a potential breakage issue. When I am climbing up and down off the roof while packing the roof rack my foot will find that light. One of these days I am going to break it.

You could go broke. Oh and stay off the roof.

Sounds like you are using the spare tire as a step to access the roof? If so, I'd be more concerned about distorting the tailgate if it's not reinforced...it's only rated for 120lbs from the factory.

Personally I'm going to ditch it for a light ring in the wheel. I spent the whole drive out to Moab & back looking around the thing to see :sneaky: with my setup 37" tire & Expedition one tire carrier. YMMV

Yeah, I am saving to get the RTR hinges first.

How to properly reach the top:
Ford Bronco Rear third brake light prone for breakage Hard Top Car

Apparently standing on a QR code box allows you to easily access the hardtop of your Gen1.
Taking it quite literally, it seems you will also need to remove the rear tire, support and 'break' bracket.
(lol)

In all seriousness I have the bronco pull out tailgate thing that is awesome for reaching the top of the car or just sitting or loading the dogs. Honestly there is not much it does not improve.
