Tire place guy calls and says you need a new right axel. Says it wasn't threaded properly before they used the gun on it and it stripped. Says ford issue. Ford said it didn't happen at there place so they're saying tire place did it. Anyone know enough to tell me who's in the wrong? I am clueless about this. First pic is what it's supposed to look like.

It could have happened at the assembly plant, it could have happened during the dealer inspection, or it could have happened at the tire shop. You probably will never know. My guess is it was at the assembly plant or at the tire shop. Unlikely a dealer mechanic would disassemble a vehicle that far during a PDI.

BUT, the tire shop isn't wrong, the threads on that are definitely messed up.

I'd say the tire shop just dumped the impact on it, personally, but as RagnarKon said, who knows for certain?

Pretty sure they’re single use so if they took it off and tried to reinstall it’s the tire place

Looks like the "critical" threads where the real torque is gonna happen are fine, so I'd say chase the threads w/the correct die, and put a fresh nut. Sometimes on large castle type nuts like that one of the castle fingers gets distorted during tightening, and the next guy to touch it gets screwed.

Why is the tire shop removing the axle nut? Are they installing a lift for you?

You are 100% correct, the wheel hub nuts are single-use.

Which brings up a good point. @Jbou1010 ... ask the tire shop if they reused the wheel hub nut. If they did, tire shop messed up.

Edit: That said, even if they did reuse the wheel hub nut, shouldn’t of been able to strip it unless they did it wrong.

Check the nut for torque marks in the tightening direction. If they are marked. Tire shop. I’ve watched enough assembly plant videos to know all factory assembly with torque wrenches is precision. Their sheit would torque out before cross threading that badly.

Yes a lift and moving to 37" KO2
What kind of lift? New coilovers or spacers? I ask because if it's new coilovers your picture shows the original coilovers which would point to the stripped axle being there before assembly

Tire place said they noticed it after take off. They didn't do anything after that.
