I have a stinger 500amp relay on an uplifter. It powers my warm winch. The installer put in a 150 amp resettable fuse on the positive cable which I think is undersized.
what size fuse should be there and what brand do you like?

Fuses in general not recommended for winch applications (high amp draw). But if you do... consult spec sheet for max amp draw and make sure you have 20% higher rated fuse. Worst thing is to have winch fail when needed. I'd keep it simple and reliable. Make sure routing is secure and protected

I’ve never used a fuse for Warn winches. But if they specify one in the installation instructions then go with that.

What size wire are you using? That will determine maximum fuse size. The fuse is to protect the wire.

Doesn’t sound like you have much trust in your “installer” that put in the 150a fuse….?

ford performacne warn winch kit (warn heavily involved in the design) does not install a fuse. in the warn instructions as well as the ford dealer install instructions.

Going to go with Warn and say don't add a fuse to your setup.

I'm not sure a fuse would be needed on a very short run, like to the front bumper. The wire is pretty protected. I'd definitely have one on a rear mounted winch. It's more likely wire to a rear mounted winch would get damaged.
