Seeing as your wife could probably walk around under it and not know it was there, either she wouldn't see it, or couldn't hit it. Those 40's (42's?) are bumpers. I think yer fine.
I am fortunate... My wife is a very good driver and very conscientious. I worry more about her car than mine though.... Yea if she hits me it will probably be just the tires. BUT I love her car. That Matte paint would be hard to match well.

Hell when she goes to work she parks 2 parking lots over so no one is around her that way she avoids door dings.

Hey, so do I! And yet there's always some jackass who'll park next to me in an empty part of the parking lot. And usually badly, where I'm squeezin' in. Many a prayer has resulted, "Oh jeezus don't let me kick their everlovin' door in!!" 🙏

OCD won’t allow me.
I too suffer with crippling OCD. My wife suffers with me.

Me: (noticing a small door ding/curb rash @100 yards) Where did you get that?
Wife: Get what?
Me: (now 50 feet out) There! Right there!
Wife: ???
Me: Come here (standing at rear of vehicle) and look down the side.
Wife: IDK

To some people a car is just a means to get from one place to another.

First ding i got on my Bronco was on the door right at the crack. I saw it later the day it happened, then remembered: Oh, THAT was why the lady in the passenger seat of the Defender parked next to me was looking and waving at me! I think she was trying to distract me from looking too close. I know it was her door, same color and they parked close (at the end of the lot). So realistically, they don't always know.

The second I caused leaving a steel stool out and my neighbor opened the door into it. 🤦‍♂️

My wife not only bought her own car, she pays the insurance bill. 35 years of marriage not one financial argument. I pay some bills she pays others.

Back on topic: "Notice cleaning her Sport the front bumper was damaged." Her car, you didn't ding it, no blood or hair on her minor damage, sounds like if you weren't cleaning her car you wouldn't have noticed it. Easy solution: quit cleaning her car.

Fair warning, you will need to look another direction if you see my Bronco coming.
Scratch’s on literally every exterior part.
After the first dozen it settles in and you become at peace.

Wife knows better..... we both have worked hard for the blessings in our lives. She knows the Bronc is another family dependent that we tuck into bed every night. I have a baby monitor in the garage to listen to it coo itself to sleep. If she were to lie to me about accidently damaging the Bronc...

Occasionally, every once and a while, I will park in tight just for fun... IF they open their door into me the only dent will be on their door because of 5/16ths thick steel sliders down both sides.. LOL

They better be careful.

Typically I park far away, just because it is habit, and I like the view during a long walk back.

I do it so I don’t have to wash laundry or sheets. And the better I keep it, the longer she will keep it.

She was fearful the devil would come out. I surprised her. I would have rather you just told me I said. She must feel relieved.
You could surprise her a little more by showing her this thread!

My wife and I have never had financial arguments... Other than at first she felt she did not want to drive the car "WE" selected for her and "WE" paid for because she thought it was too expensive... We sat down and discussed what she would like to have in a car. Since I know cars better than she does I researched and found the one that met all of her wish list. She is really happy with it now and cares for it like was special.

My wife is the perfect partner for me. She is really smart and constantly challenges me to see things from different perspectives. I like to think I do the same for her. I think she is a little atypical. I think 12 years of military service kind of influenced her approach to things. Neither of us dominates the other. We are equals. Partners.
