The flip side to the gas saved is that cars don’t start up quickly. That means it takes a couple of seconds for the engine to spring back to life when you take your foot off the brake when a red light turns green, it, delaying how many vehicles get through the light and increasing overall fuel consumption.
As much as I loathe A/S/S, cell phone addiction is a larger contributor to the delay at intersections. They stack though. They have to look up from their stupid cell phone to realize they have a green light, then lift their foot off the brake, hope A/S/S engages quick, and then they still poopy-droop along through the intersection as the light turns yellow and everyone behind them is screwed out of another 3-4 minutes of their life.

Around here, it's common to have an entire light cycle on a main road and only 2-3 cars get through. And, if you're unlucky enough to have to take a left, you might only see one car get through (green arrows are rare, usually in SC it is "here's a green light, have fun finding a gap in oncoming traffic), so most people just run the red light, which delays cars that just got a green light. Vicious cycle, but I digress...

I drive almost exclusively in "sport" mode. I like the way it shifts the tranny better than in any other mode, and the stupidASS is automatically off, but.........every time I restart it, I have to fiddle with the Goat to find the "sport" mode. It doesn't remember the last setting.
wrong.

It absolutely remembers that you were in Sport mode when you turned the car off.

And when you start the car back up it pops up in the cluster, "do you want to return to Sport mode?" Push the OK button on the wheel. Done. Or don't, and enjoy fluffing your goat and complaining here.

Sometimes I don't know how people get their cars out of the driveway.

I have an answer to this, and in fact the hardware to implement this answer--and the resultant processes--are already in place.

I admit I was wrong. Wrong in thinking you will get the joke.

Oh no, I get it--you like fluffing your goat.

Which matches up with your desire to be left alone by others.

Absolutely. I applied for a job in Tijuana (many years ago) to work as a donkey fluffer. For some reason they told me I was "overqualified".

"You had my curiosity, but now you have my attention."

Are you referring to a solution to rampant cell phone addiction and distracted driving? I have thought about localized geofencing at the driver's seat that locks out functions other than 911. Of course, then people would lean into the passenger seat to send texts and scroll instagram while driving, making it even more dangerous.

Here's the weird part, most people struggle to form a full sentence or even a coherent thought- why are they all over-encumbered and addicted to communication devices?

I'll bite.

Accept me because I'm human. Not because of the color of my hair.
Also accept that even if the feature saves only 0.1 MPG - over 15 million cars sold driving ~14,000 miles annualy is 21,000,000,000 gallons of gasoline not consumed each year.

And yes, I'll condemn someone all day long if they don't think that is in some way significant.
For the rest of the 99.9% of drivers on the road
First I will say I think your polling is a little skewed and second - Make ASS an option. Let the market decide, and while we're at it let's take away all tax credits and remove mandates for electric's and see how long both of them last!

No, specifically I was talking about the people sitting at traffic lights, staring at their phones, clueless that the light has changed and instead continuing to stare at their phones and keep traffic from moving the way the engineers designed the flow.

Our ‘19 Subaru tells you when the car in front of you starts moving. But if you’re the dumbass at pole position, it’s no help.

God help us all. Subaru, just go all out and take the wheel, the gas pedal, and blank out the windshield. Pull the steering wheel in and away, for that matter. The passenger doesn't need it.

My Model Y beeps when it recognizes a green light- sometimes quicker than I can even react sometimes. Like… I’m pretty impatient with green light pausers but that thing takes the cake.

For the record, that isn't my solution to the problem.
