Whats the best tune?

I have a RaceChip GTS for my 2.3. It is a piggyback tune and doesn't modify shift points, but then again, I have a manual. Adds 30hp and 45ft-lbs and can be tweaked using their app. Oh, and mine was free so that made the decision easy.

They are flash tunes, not piggybacks.

Using the FP tune along with a few other goodies. I run 93 and there is a significant difference. Yes, I have more power, but it is the transmission adjustments that make the FP tune worth it.

I hear now that the Whipple tomahawk tune now adjusts shift points as well.

There is one tell-tale: the ASS remembers its last position on power cycle.

That said - yeah, unless it’s an issue that could be related to a tune, they probably aren’t going to bother even looking, and for the FP, unless you leave the dongle hooked up to look at it’s awesome graphics (ha) there isn’t a lot there to really tip anyone off unless they want to go digging

Well, the easiest way would be the VIN registration with Ford Performance that has to be completed before install. Still though, this tuner isn’t likely to raise any flags

The lethal performance one looks the exact same. https://accessories.ford.com/ford-p...777986!!20643481100!157311292289&gad_source=1 Also doesn't give any info on if it's for 2.7 or 2.3. This one is way cheaper than the other ones as well, so just wondering.

That’s just for the procal 4 tool. Like it mentions in the listing, no calibration is included with that.
I’m guessing this is something you would buy if you already had one previously, but damaged or lost the actual procal tool. You would still need to purchase or obtain a calibration to load into it.

Thinking about pulling the trigger on a tuner and from the bit of research I've done so far the Whipple tomahawk seems to have way better numbers than the FPP or Roush in real world testing. Mainly going off Lethal Performance dyno results. Does look to be about $300 more for the Whipple, but if they really are getting 60 HP and everyone else is getting 20HP.
Plus auto SS disable and 91/93 octane option.

Any other data points anyone has?

Even though the Ford Performance Tune is the least impressive on the Dyno, it makes up for it with the reduction in torque management and transmission shifting. That said, the Whipple route will give you the most power on the Dyno.

Understanding that dyno numbers aren't everything and especially this is a daily driver, not a strip/track car... are you saying the FPP has the best "drivability"?

I've had the Whipple Stage 1 tune, intercooler and air filter for about the last 5k miles.
I love it!! It truly is like a different vehicle. Lots of down low torque (under the curve). I have embarrassed a buddy who has an Explorer ST on several occasions. Gas mileage remains unchanged for the most part (depending on the weight of your foot, obviously).

I highly recommend the Whipple Stage 1 Kit.

I've looked around some but just wondering what everyone likes best and prefers. Also, should I try to install it myself or get it done at a dealer. Thanks!

I run the Ford Performance Tune. It does not void the warranty; the dealer only charged me 1 hour for the installation. My Ford dealer was also able to adjust for the 5.13 gears and 38-inch tires with the FP tune; my speedometer is within 1-2 miles of the GPS on my radar detector. I almost feel like the Bronco should have come with it; the transmission does not hunt for gears, and the shifting has completely smoothed out.
