New tire thread with three “Kenda” replies on page one.

I have nothing to do with Kenda other than running them on my Bronco. They last well, balance great, are super tough in the Arizona rocks, good in mud and snow, and are very quiet for RT tires. Also great pricing.

Thanks for all of the good responses. Keep them coming. I'm only continuing to love the tires I just got and I'm thinking about possibly going a bit bigger the next go-around.

The rubber kind not the metal kind, although one set has those kinda cords, the others use the regular cord...

Start with 35x12.5 Mickey Baja Legends - ran those for 50k miles. Great tire off road, good road manners. Not very good in snow though (although it doesn't make any such claims, so can't really hold that against it). Excellent in mud and not too bad about throwing rocks.

Switched to Nitto Ridge Grappler 38x11.5 - at the time was the only tire in that size range, lighter weight than most 37x12.5 but get an extra inch of height. Now you can get a Toyo Open Country RT in the same size for about 4 lbs more that looks like a more solid option in that same size range that I'm considering for my next tire. The Nitto has been very good on road - quieter than the Mickeys, I've never noticed them to throw gravel at all, and good about not slinging mud around.

After running these for almost 30k miles, I kinda like the pizza cutter, and the Nittos have done rather well, but they don't get as good of traction off road as the Baja Legends did. That's good and bad - bad in that they slip a lot more, and have a tendency to slide off things sideways if aren't careful about your line. Good in that I would rather the tire break traction than breaking an axle. Haven't really had them in the snow too much, but not expecting too much out of them, as similar to the Baja Legends, they don't make any claims about being a snow tire either. So far the extra height as more than made up for the lack of traction though.

I did have the SAS Territory MTs for a little bit - but maybe 2-3k miles on a pair. They were very good in the snow, but the gravel sling was considerable. Overall the Nittos had better road manners and the Mickeys were a better tire overall - but for an OEM tire it was light weight and did ok off road, and you can usually find takeoffs for pretty cheap. I dunno that I would recommend paying retail for a set, but I wouldn't feel too bad about running them (as long as you don't mind the gravel).

Anyone running 70lbs+ tires and notice a substantial difference with the weight? Any regrets with a heavier tire? My stock Goodyears are so worn down after 25k miles, cracks and chunks taken out of them from the trails.

I'm so torn between the AT4W, Baja Boss or KO3. I had the AT3W on my Ram and loved them so I thought about the AT4W but 74lbs on a C-rated tire just seems....chunky. The Baja Boss isn't far behind them at 71lbs~. I'm leaning towards the KO3 since they seem like a good middle-ground (roughly 66lbs) between the stock Goodyear tire weights and the other options.

I've seen good things about the firestones. there's someone on the forum that runs them and swears by them but I don't recall who it was. 2.7obx maybe? they are on my list when it's time for the duelers to go. I can't bring myself to replace tires that are "good enough" for what I am presently doing, but unless they are free they will be replaced with something else.

If you wheel it is about side wall strength. Watch these lesser run tires.

I'm so torn between the AT4W, Baja Boss or KO3.
You have the same short list as I had. I saw a lot of people loved the AT3W, but I found multiple people say the AT4W was not better. The BFGs are the benchmark off road tire, but I found a lot of people complaining about the wet traction. In Seattle, wet traction is pretty high on the priority list.

I pulled the trigger on 35X12.5-R17 Mickey T Baja Boss ATs on OEM SAS wheels. I'm extremely pleased with them so far.

KOs for the past 15 years. Currently KO3, C load, 33 inch. Anything bigger or heavier than that is compensatong for a deficiency elsewhere 😜
