what if Ford wanted to take some buyers away from Land Rover and released a Lincoln Bronco?

What differences would it have?

I’ll start by sticking to Lincoln’s use of aviation names and call it the Lincoln A10.

For the sake of names, I recommend Hercules....the C-130 is probably one of the most versatile aircraft in the USAF inventory; able to reliably get into and out of more locations than any other aircraft...be it an ice runway Antarctica or dirt airstrip in the middle of a desert while under threat of enemy fire. It's a rugged do-it-all airframe that has left a legacy across the globe.

That said, Lincolns are the luxury line of fords...Broncos are not luxury. Broncos are adventure and dirt and mud and everything you keep luxury cars away from.

dude, were you in the car last night while I spoke to my wife about this very concept???

Smooth out the body, lower it a couple inches, give it a Lincoln interior and feature set, and tune the suspension for the dealership owner's wife.

Make a blacked out version and honor the Marauder name with it.

Hey, they tried it with the F150. It's really as much marketing effort as anything.
Right but it was a marketing failure and discontinued due to poor sales.
Extremely few buying a Lincoln are looking for a truck or bronco equivalent.

I don't know, a Navigator is very much a truck albeit a heavily insulated and leather wrapped one.

Back to the OP, if they can plan a Corvette SUV and Mustang is looking at 4 doors and an off-road/true rally fighter then they probably could sell a Lincoln Bronco but it would have to be specifically marketed to be a true LR Defender competitor. If they did only the new black or body color hardtop, upgrade leather and materials, throw in a little woodgrain and chrome and lots of insulation and dampen the suspension some they might actually sell a few.

Anyone want to photo-shop a diamond cut grille on the Bronco???

A Lincoln Bronco would require every single interior material being upgraded and it would cost $150k.

Lincoln doesn't do alphanumerics so it would have to be... wait for it... the Thunderbolt II.

And you all thought I was going to say Warthog 😆

you know, plenty of people think that if it costs more, it must be worth more.

Plus, Toyota doesn't have a problem putting that Lexus LX out there, asking a buck thirty five for the high end piece. So dress up the Bronco, lower and soften it to a mall roader, change the driveline to hands-off AWD, and Bob's your uncle.

I mean, Dodge makes Durangos--but apparently ONLY the $80K and up models now. People love to spend money. Tell the Lincoln buyer that you have an answer to that Lexus or Land Rover? Hmmmmm.
