Thing about collectibles: if you hide it away it will be worth a few extra bucks in a few years. But you will not have enjoyed it. If you hide it away long enough it may be worth a lot. But you'll be dead. If you're alive and sell for big bucks the people at the old folks home will get the money.

Yep, it will just be a missed opportunity. But who knows there might be a few suckers still out there still willing to pay big money. Happens daily on BAT

YMMV 🤠

Buying a car that you like, but have no intention of driving to 'keep it like new', is like dating a supermodel that you have no intention of sleeping with just to 'keep it like new' for the next guy.

Nobody cares about the vin number except to verify the engine, transmission, paint color, etc.
False, the OP cares and honestly I don't think it's a big deal that they do. Lots of piling on when it's just a simple(ish) question.

If it makes you feel any better, I have one of the first few hundred 2 doors off the line for MY21, when the bronco first came back out, and I drive mine all over and off road with it.

@gregory.conklin If you want a really rare Bronco, then a MY'21 ST WT might be the rarest. It isn't anything special by today's standards. But as defined by it's VIN, there were no MY'21 WTs built for customers with a ST. The ST wasn't an option for retail orders. They only were built with the MIC HT for retail orders. But early in MY'21, Ford built a select few WTs with a ST for Dealer's mannequins. After time in service, dealers could sell them to the public. Not every dealer received a 4-dr WT as a mannequin, so the conservative estimate is that there were less than a 1000 produced with a ST.

I think that is pretty awesome and you have something pretty cool. Before everyone piled on I was actually trying to do a little research to find out was how many 2023 Heritage 2 Door with the 7 MT were actually produced. From all of the problems they had producing them I'm thinking it a pretty small number. Ours happens to have a low VIN number and wanted to see how unique it actually is. Don't care about the monetary value and wont part with it while I'm alive. Bought it to relive my youth in the old red and white 67 I have so many fond memories of. This rig takes me right back there. Anyway thanks for sharing pretty awesome to know. Yeah they will all pile on telling me I'm a dumb ass but I actually think a few of these will in the end be worth saving for years down the road.

Forgot my 62 Falcon Futura has a similar story. I was built with a Thunderbird top not the round one. They only did a small number of them and sent them out to dealers to see how well they would be received. Its a pretty cool old car thats a blast to drive and take to the shows.

Well damn... I screwed up... You know that thread for the weekly build stats that is posted... Well checking the second week of July 2023 It showed like 300 and some odd 4 door heritage Limited's had been built (or somethin like that but I always have remembered it showed only 8 (eight) two door Limited's had been built. I purchased mine the week before the same day it showed Built and parked at MAP... Suggests that I have at least one of the first 8 built... and now I have gone and ruined it....as far as collectors go....

I don't have a '21 ST WT. I was just conveying a nerdy factoid regarding VIN research. 🤓

Now we all know that any of the special editions (FE and HEL) with the proper door count will be produced in lower numbers based on buying trends. The Costco Caravan needs their moar doors. But if you wanted to drill down further, the VINs that share the same build profile as VIN 001 likely share the same status as the MY'21 ST WT as being the rarest Bronco.

VIN 001 was a 2-dr FE in Lightning Blue with the Luna/Navy Pier interior. There are very few FE owners that had the gumption to stick to the build profile how Ford intended. Early on before the order banks opened, Ford announced the details of the FE that included only the Luna/Navy Pier interior. There was so much faux outrage over the renders that Ford capitulated and offered a black interior. When actual production began, the faux outrage was unwarranted as the renders looked nothing like the actual interior.

Well just to answer your question...

PLA20009
  • P = 2023MY
  • L = Michigan Assembly Plant
  • A20009 = Identifier
2023 Broncos started at A19950 if memory serves, meaning this was the 59th VIN to be sequenced. Note that the 59th VIN does NOT mean it was the 59th Heritage Bronco, it was just the 59th VIN to be sequenced. It also has no bearing on production or sales order. Vehicles are usually not produced in VIN order. PL19950 was indeed a 3-door Heritage, but it actually the 291st vehicle sequenced for that day at Michigan Assembly, and honestly was probably a test or media build that most likely has since been crushed. Yours wasn't produced until several months later.
.....
Not what you’re looking for exactly, but you can look at your window sticker and see what number your vehicle was built in that specific production run. No cigar, but close. That’s with rangers too, of course. Mine highlighted for reference.
Ford Bronco VIN Research 1720708605288-gr
Also look at the Blend date, which I circled in the above pic. That's a better indication of when it was built in the timeline.

I agree they were not built in vin order. Here's an example...
A friend and I had near identical builds, I placed my order a few days before hers in Jan 2021. My blend date was 3/20/23, hers was 3/24/23. Her later build (4 days) has a lower vin than mine, by about 580 #'s. I even received my vin first, by several days, but got assigned a higher #.

Perhaps Marti Auto Reports will eventually offer production data for our Broncos. They currently only offer data for 1967-2020.
