I did a forum search and came up with "no results". Ford uses the AT&T cellular network for connected services. Has anyone switched their personal cell service from Verizon to AT&T and experienced improvements? Has anyone here done the opposite and experienced issues? The questions posed are regarding the interactions between your handheld device and the vehicle.

I’ve had all sorts of cell phone carriers in my truck. The onboard modem has 0 effect on the phone service or signal based on carrier

Now, if you try to use WiFi calling with the built-in hot spot on the Bronco - all your calls would get routed via the on board modem. But that’s a pretty specific use case there, and again, it wouldn’t matter what carrier your phone is on.

Your cellular carrier has zero bearing on how the phone connects with the vehicle. Communication between FordPass and your vehicle occurs through the internet via Ford's online services, so as long as you both your phone and your car have a data connection that can reach the internet, it will work. And the CarPlay/Android Auto functionality occurs via Bluetooth and Wifi, which bypasses your cellular data connection entirely. It's direct from your phone to the vehicle.

The only reason why you would potentially want to switch to AT&T is if you use the in-car Wifi Hotspot feature. If you are already an AT&T customer it only costs $10-$20/mo (depending on your plan) to add on the Wifi hotspot feature to your vehicle. Non-AT&T customers have to pay $25/mo. LINK

I was with Verizon for over 20 years but dropped them and went with Consumer Cellular. I'm not a heavy user, I don't stream anything. I dropped Verizon because of cost and poor customer service. In my area Consumer Cellular uses AT&T. In other areas they use T-Mobile.

Who has the best coverage depends on where you live.

I've been very happy with Consumer Cellular phone support. They're all in the US and grew up speaking english.

You might want to look at these sites. The second one uses FCC data but they claim to be more user friendly.

I chose not to pay AT&T $10 a month just to get navigation. I use an iPhone. For the first month I compared Ford mapping, Apple Maps and my Garmin. Apple Maps seemed give the most accurate routing followed by Ford maps. My recently updated Garmin came in last.

I've had Apple maps update with refreshed routing within a few minutes of an accident occurring on my route. Very impressive! I can't speak for the service Android phones use. The suggested route also changes with time of day and traffic patterns.

T-mobile to get free wifi on flights. Soon enough every airline carrier will likely have free Wi-fi. I might switch out then. T-mobile Tuesdays are sorta fun though.

Ok ok.

Jordan or Lebron?
In 15 seasons (vs LeBrons 22), Jordan had 6 championships (vs LeBrons 4)... I'm going with MJ.

This will all come full circle when Montana and Jordan show up in an AT&T commercial driving a Bronco.

I just got an invitation (to apply, naturally) for a T-mobile beta with StarLink for SMS (Text Messages). Looks like they'll have that on offer ...at some point.

Been with AT&T for 20+ years. The company that I work for gets me 40% off my bill. Also works good at my cabin which is rural and in the Sierra Nevada Foothills. Other providers have issues getting a good signal. When I am in the city (SF and south Bay Area) AT&T works good with Apple Car Play as well.

No matter what carrier you use, your connection through the ford modem is limited to 4G LTE. My phone is 5G LTE capable and faster than the ford modem will ever be. For this reason, I canceled my connectivity subscription and run everything through my phone and CarPlay.

We switched from ATT to Verizon I’ve been getting yelled at ever since. Verizon in my area sucks! In the U.P. Of MI it’s really bad where ATT had service.
