I’ve had all sorts of cell phone carriers in my truck. The onboard modem has 0 effect on the phone service or signal based on carrier

Now, if you try to use WiFi calling with the built-in hot spot on the Bronco - all your calls would get routed via the on board modem. But that’s a pretty specific use case there, and again, it wouldn’t matter what carrier your phone is on.
Running data through your onboard modem, will in fact, truncate your data transmission speeds. It’s a 4g device. Everything is much faster, running data direct from my 5g phone. It’s the primary reason that I canceled my ford data subscription. The modem is outdated by 5 + years. Everything I need, including remote start and unlock, works fine without the ford data subscription

We switched from ATT to Verizon I’ve been getting yelled at ever since. Verizon in my area sucks! In the U.P. Of MI it’s really bad where ATT had service.
Had Verizon for about 22 years. Got tired of them only offering the deals to new customers or to add a line. Dumped them about 3 years ago for US Mobile. Paying less than 1/3 the price for a lot more data. Probably less than 1/2 of Consumer Cellular's price. They offer Verizon, T Mobile, and ATT networks, your choice. And you can even switch between networks when necessary with some restrictions of course. Got priority data on Verizon, saved a ton for the same service but tons more data.

I just got an invitation (to apply, naturally) for a T-mobile beta with StarLink for SMS (Text Messages). Looks like they'll have that on offer ...at some point.
I saw that this week. Wonder which satellites Apple uses for their phones? I've had that feature since upgrading the phone last year.

Sending texts by satellite is the only reason I wanted to upgrade. AT&T offered $1000 for my old phone on a Black Friday deal so I went for it.

Still would like Starlink.

You might want to look into a Zoleo. It uses a phone app to send text via the Iridium system. Cheaper than buying a new phone but there is a monthly fee depending on the plan you choose.

I was with Verizon for over 20 years but dropped them and went with Consumer Cellular. I'm not a heavy user, I don't stream anything. I dropped Verizon because of cost and poor customer service. In my area Consumer Cellular uses AT&T. In other areas they use T-Mobile.

Who has the best coverage depends on where you live.

I've been very happy with Consumer Cellular phone support. They're all in the US and grew up speaking english.

You might want to look at these sites. The second one uses FCC data but they claim to be more user friendly.

I chose not to pay AT&T $10 a month just to get navigation. I use an iPhone. For the first month I compared Ford mapping, Apple Maps and my Garmin. Apple Maps seemed give the most accurate routing followed by Ford maps. My recently updated Garmin came in last.

I've had Apple maps update with refreshed routing within a few minutes of an accident occurring on my route. Very impressive! I can't speak for the service Android phones use. The suggested route also changes with time of day and traffic patterns.
Google maps works for me it does the same as the apple maps, it makes you aware of hazards on the road as well popo traps.

Apple maps also gives speed check warnings. I assume Google maps does the same thing.
