Took mine in for service Monday and to look at top cracking. Not directly at the windows but between the window and the rear door. About palm sized maze of cracks suddenly appeared a week ago.

The service manager said he never heard of it happening. During their review, some large country boy came out said to the service team- yup we are familiar with this, we will get the top on order.

They then broke into discussion that they side panels may be available separately?? They were of the opinion that the rear top shelf and three overhead pieces does not get replaced with this issue, just the bad parts.

They ordered a whole rear shell for mine.

When mine was being replaced the 1st time I started talking to a salesman that also had a 23 2dr so we went to check his out. He said he hadn't had any issues with his top but I quickly pointed out cracks starting on the lower corners of both passenger and drivers side windows. I walked over to the only two other 2drs on the lot and they had the same cracks starting. We have 3 2drs in the parking lot of my work and all of us have the same. Here is a pic of my replacement. While it does not show any cracking yet the waves and honeycomb showing through is a whole different kind of crap.

Well it's turning into a fiasco. Dropped the Bronco off Monday morning to have the 3rd top installed and they called this morning to tell me they had some issues. They had the glass company remove the rear glass and install it on the new top then they installed the headliner. When they went to put it on it would not line up. It seems all the holes and locator pins were not lining up correctly. I really do not see how that could be since they sit in jigs for this type of thing , plus it would not have been sitting correctly in anything that holds it in place to move around the facility after the fact . I'll have to leave it there and keep the loner for awhile.

Yes. The way the clamshell is crated is a joke. I'm pretty sure the first one they sent my dealership was scraped up when the service tech uncrated it. The clamshell isn't wrapped in anything. It appeared to have been slid over to the side and then rubbed up against the rough wooden slats. Back it went. The mid panel, which I didn't get a chance to inspect, has waviness on the sides.

Yes! I will be doing just that when I take mine in.

This is why the dealer wants my Bronco for 3-4 days. Because the windows have to come out of the old top while it's sitting on the Bronco. And the new windows have to be put in with the new top installed. So how they'll do the headliner is up for grabs....

@J-Lugster is spot-on correct; a veritable shite show.

Where's the Ford_Motor_Company folks? Oh, right, they left the forum. And they were never really here to help anyway....

Pic of somebody else's clamshell. This is how they're all crated. A little rough handling or swipe across the wood and there it goes.

I was told they flip the top upside down while it is off the vehicle and glue the headliner material on.
