I am looking at replacing all tires. I need 10 ply for the roads i drive often, oem are 6. I'm tired of flats and just lost a tire.

I'm looking at a 285/79r17. It's an inch larger diameter and width. Anyone have issues with that?

23 2.7 black diamond

Thx.

You'll be fine but may notice reduced MPG with the heavy 10ply tire.

You'll be better than stock. The Bronco had weight constraints. The lighter tires were a part of that equation 🤠 .

Mpg drop is expected. I've lost 3 tires to rocks cutting thru the plys and 2 flats going to town between the former Jeep & Bronco in 5 years. I think it's only 50ish lbs more total but rolling resistance prolly is greater.

I'm looking at the same oem make & model Grabber a/tx @ ~$300. Anything better for mud snow ice highway & dirt/gravel roads? It's my daily driver. Don't do HD 4 wheeling but I live in Hells Canyon so conditions can get bad and dangerous.

You had a typo ... 285/7?-17
Either way, under 35" , you'll have no issues.

285/70 -17 ..... 32.8" .... no issues.

285/75-17 ...... 33.8" .... no issues, even with the factory Black Diamond wheels.

255/85-17 , 34.6" x 9.8 ,Tall and skinny,
Mickey Thompson tires , I'll bet they'll be perfectly fine as well. .

35" class tires will require unbolting the crash bars up front.

Until you get into the 35's, you'll have zero issues.
Some have installed the 35x12.5's on factory +55mm (your current) wheels and they still fit, with small, tiny amounts of rub at full lock.

I ran 35x11.5 , no lift, Method wheels (+35mm) and had no issues under daily street driving. Hard turns with suspension compression occasionally resulted in very minor rub.

These things were literally built for up to 35" tires.

OBX2.7 with Hoss2 275-70/18 Firestone Destination X/T

Balanced with very little weight, very quiet, smooth ride over everything, great traction all around. Only 51lb.

Very good moderate speed water, slush dispersion.

As comfortable as Michelin LTX Trail. Far exceeds expectations.

Lots room for 285s currently about 4" to crash bar.

I went with the General Grabber AT/X in 285/70R17 10ply because;
I knew the tire so no surprises on handling, wear and noise so for 90% of my driving they work well. I haven't looked to see how much weight was used.
Made in the USA
Cost

I got AM wheels with 0 offset so that pushed them out 55mm from OEM is my understanding.

But here is what I found at mounting time;
The Mabett front mud flaps rubbed at near to full tilt. Removed for now.
On my Black Diamond there were 2 brackets on each wheel well bolted (2 each) & extending out from the frame. These rubbed 100%. I suspect they were OEM mounting points for front guard and running boards? Removed them and plenty of room. Note the nuts are welded to frame.

You can trim that bump that sticks out on those Mabett mud flaps and they will clear. I ran them with 35s after doing that and they cleared just fine.. You can also take the plastic end out of the
of the rock slider and trim that back an inch if you want and put the plastic plug back in it if that’s pushing your mud flap into your tire.

It will be fine. That’s what everybody does. LEV8 makes a bolt-in end for those if you want to look more finished. I have a picture of mine somewhere. I actually just took them out because I put 37’s on and trimmed back the frame brackets

Those are the crash bars. If your bronco came with 35s on it, it would’ve already had those removed.
