Picking up an OBX that doesn't have the Lux system. I read the the Lux system can be a pain to replace, which made my decision to get one without it. Thinking of getting the Focal ACX 100 to replace the front corners. I don't have an amp, but will likely add one later. Any other suggestions that are good before and after adding an amp? I had the ICU 690 (6X9) in my last vehicle and really liked them. I do prefer bright because I have hearing loss. So can tell good quality, but anything too expensive would probably be a waste of money for me.

Probably add a 5 channel amp. My last truck had the Infinity 5 which was good enough for my use. Mostly Rock and Country music.

I saw Focal also has the ICU 100, but Crutchfield says they won't fit. I don't mind spending a little more for the front. Amazon has the ACX 100 for $68. I don't mind spending around $200.

I'll probably do the rear and sub too, but not right away. Looks like an 8" sub?

The only thing I kept from my old truck is a JL 12" in a downfiring sealed box. I could use that, but was thinking of trying to keep the sub in the OEM location so it isn't in the way of storage.

A few recommendations after having jumped into this rabbit hole and ending up in a cycle of upgrades:

First, I do not recommend upgrading in stages. You will spend more money (and time) - and the trim is not very forgiving on ripping it apart and putting it back together over and over. Buy once, Cry once very much applies here.

The speakers I would recommend with an amp are not the same I would recommend without. Not to say you can’t do it with one set - but once you get the amp it opens up a lot more options

Without an amp — just do the dash speakers. Maybe the rears, but don’t splurge on new 6.5” pods. Look for an efficient 4” driver to run off the factory amp (Infinity and Hertz are two popular choices). Don’t even bother touching the kick panels or subwoofer unless you are running more power with it.

Which Hertz speakers will work in the front dash? I see the 100.3, but Crutchfield says they won't fit. It says the Focal ACX 100 will fit. I do like Focal, but also like Hertz.

So tentative plan is to just to the front dash 4", hopefully 'one and done' for those. Figure I'm going to wait a few months to do an amp, front kick panels, rear pods, and sub. Since my last vehicle had electrical problems and, of course, the dealer was starting to blame my audio system. Of course, my wife jumped on that band wagon and it just got plain annoying.

I'll watch some videos on the kick panel and rear pods. Figure I'll do those two locations myself right before I have a shop install and amp and sub.

The Hertz will fit fine - you do have to shave down a little plastic locator pin - which is why Crutchfield says they don’t fit.

Ok great, probably go with those.

The locator pin is inside the enclosure? Or is it on the speaker?

On the dash. Its what the factory line workers use to make sure the factory speaker is oriented the “correct” way.

It will be obvious since almost no other speaker will lay flat because it’s in the way

I have Kicker KS series speakers in the dash and rear pods. I did add larger rear speaker pods, but would not if I were to do it again, since even a larger pod is not big enough to provide noticeable bass.

I was thinking about that. If I get the 4", probably do those sooner and keep the stock look. 6.5" would be nice, but I know the rear is mostly fill and a sub would fill in the bass.

IMO pods are a total waste better to put the fund to proper sub amp and sub. Audison AP and APX direct fit. ScanSpeak also direct for 4". Hertz MP is a good choice too. The is grade avail super cheap often NIB at diymobileaudio along with various other boutique brands that far excel mass market consumer brands.

First, your truck is GORGEOUS. love the combination of the all gray and the wheels with the trim rings. Just bought those wheels and BFG 35’s for mine.

right in the middle of this now, too. 100% agree with Brian_B on not doing it in stages. I replaced all the 4” speakers with Alpine S40, and then decided to do the 6.5” in new rear pods, etc. Once I heard the higher-grade Infinity’s in the new pods, I’m looking at replacing the dash speakers AGAIN…it literally never ends.
I did learn that very little you do with the B&O system (assuming the base system is as well) will make up for how bad the amp really is. You would probably have more sound improvement with a new amp than any speaker.
of all the shopping I’ve done, I would say Trailseven has the most to offer, especially if you want a simple, well-planned installation. They were great.
Good luck with the project.
