Skid plate ride height

I'm going to be ordering JCR skid plates this week. I am trying to decide between aluminum and steel. The only reason I am hesitant to get the steel is the increased weight. The steel is about 100lbs heavier than the stock plates, the aluminum is only about 35lbs heavier. I dont think I can afford to lose much more ride height without rubbing. Does anyone know how much height they've lost with the rci or jcr skid kits?

I installed steel RCI engine, trans, and cross member braces and RCI aluminum transfer case (they were out of stock on steel and swapped it in no charge since I’d waited two months) on a stock height two door OBX that only had plastic engine and trans plates from the factory and measured no height loss or mpg loss.

My badlands dropped significantly (2inches or so) over the first year. I only have the ARB skids they are steel but fairly light 80lbs. I also have a winch up front that contributes.

I would go aluminum

I have a Wildtrak (so Sasquatched). I installed steel rock rails, JCR steel: Engine, Transmission, T-Case, and Gas tank skids on my 4 door. I then also installed a BAMF steel front bumper with a Winch.

all together I added about 500 lbs of armor.... ALL of that dropped my front 1.25" and my rear 1".

I contribute most of that drop to the front bumper and winch, so it is highly doubtful that the skid plates alone will do much, and if your torn between the aluminum and the steel, the weight difference will not drop your suspension significantly between the two options (FYI if you're planning on actually using your skid plates, I would NOT go aluminum)
