Starting MSRP is about $150K. And that's assuming you cannot get one without markup (which these vehicles are notorious for).

When we were looking at Bronco's last month, we saw a few Raptors with $25K markup. Way, way overpriced for my needs. Ended up with a Big Bend that checked all the boxes.

The reality is that a $100k Ford has the exact same build quality as the cheapest base Ford Escape. I still remember a co-worker parking his brand new GT350 next to another co-worker's Ecoboost Mustang and they both had the exact same panel gaps and front rear bumper sagging. Conversely a Ford buyer that opts for the cheapest Ford vehicle available can feel good that the build quality of their new vehicle is on the same level as the most expensive Ford offerings on the lot.

Yip! This is spot on. My $100k rappy pickup? Doesn’t even have paint completely covering the inside door panels. Ford must’ve figured out if they can keep the spray juuuuuuuuust wide enough they’ll save 89 cents per door. Then they got even worse in 2023 by dropping the trim materials to that of the base models. Blamed it on supply chain disruption.

Why is Ford going to leave that much profit sitting there for its dealership network to pocket? I'm guessing as time goes on price increases won't be as much because demand is lower.

I disagree as how much people care is directly proportional to what they are paying for goods. People paying $30k for for an Escape have completely different expectations from people paying $70k for an SUV. Go on BMW and Audi forums and you will see lots of threads of extremely nitpicky stuff that you won't typically see on a Ford forum where it's kind of expected that some panels won't be aligned perfectly or paint won't be flawless. When you see it here it's usually something like the wrong seats being installed, wrong fenders, or typical Ford crap paint over aluminum panels which is something they haven't been able to nail down for decades. On a BMW forum you will get a thread from a person that found a single fish eye on their carbon fiber roof lol.

100% this. Using the 2023 BaseSquatch V6 that I custom ordered bought my wife for about $44k, I can agree with the OP when he states that a Braptor is not worth two of mine. We just did the Bronco OffRoadeo a few weeks ago and can say with certainty that we will never use the full capability of a Bronco Sasquatch, much less of a Raptor so she is very happy with her gift. Also, for us, it had to be a 2 door (no kids).
Now that the craziness has settled, the market is realizing Ford has overpriced the Bronco for it's core buyer and we now understand why dealer lots are full of new and lightly used Broncos.
Even Ford realized this and is bringing the Base model back for 2025.

If you look at the top selling cars (not pickup trucks) in 2024, it will give you an indication of value. The Rav4, the CRV and the Tesla Model Y (if you factor in the Federal credit), all go for a base price of under to slightly above $30k. I wouldn't say that all vehicles are overpriced these days, I wouldn't consider the Bronco a sensible vehicle either, I would say it's more of a toy/third vehicle than a daily for most of us. We literally struggle to put miles on the Bronco because my Tesla makes for a much better road trip car.

Yup. I was lucky to be able to order mine with a V6 for only an extra $1,800. Now the only option of a 2 door V6 is the Stroppe for only $70k...

Yeah, this is one huge reason I’m sticking with my 2022 37pp. It has everything the new ones don’t!!

Which is right where I got my 2023 last month. $73k total out the door. It was built Nov 2023, sat on the dealer lot because they were asking $118k for a Raptor with a $99,900 MSRP (which both are ridiculous). Then they had 5 2024s collecting dust on the lot, with 2025s coming out. Price finally dropped to one that I was willing to pay. Couldn’t be happier.

Why are they going to sell a more capable vehicle for "cheap" when the Bronco Sport has the price advantage in the 30K range.

You get a "convertible" and a far better off roading platform then the Bronco Sport. Convertibles are normally a 5-7K upcharge over their hardtop companions.

The Average cost of a new car in the US is around the 50K mark

What it boils down to is the vast majority of buyers "overbuy" with a vehicle like the Bronco and don't even use 25% of what it is capable of doing since its just used for pleasure or commuting to work.

It all comes down to use. Most bronco owners will not/can not utilize the bronco to its full potential. And the raptor-as the best equipped showroom vehicle for ultra high end off roading-is even more so. In his video, Desert Chief makes an ironclad case for why trying to build a lower trim level bronco to raptor standards is a fools errand, especially financially. However, if you are not buying a raptor for what it uniquely offers off road, and all you need or want is a really cool bronco that will certainly turn heads, a lower trim level can be customised to fit the bill very nicely and more affordably than a stock raptor. So the question is, why do you want a raptor and what will it realistically be used for?
