After watching that video on AT tire comparison from Tire Rack posted today, I was looking at Cooper stuff in a bit more detail.

I saw this from a Goodyear auto service web site, made me chuckle a bit

Pretty chunky commuter tire for sure!

Unfortunately most of the mud and all terrain tires are just bling and do nothing more than commute to the office.
So they are just being honest on how it will be used.

The thing is it is a commuter tire now, as surely 80% (or some similar number) of those sold have never been off road. They are simply purchased for their aesthetics.

I have been surprised by some of the comments I have received about my Bronco since purchase. Just today the teacher working the parking lot was telling me how much she liked it when I was dropping my youngest off at school today. She just likes the big tires, manly squared off looks of the whole thing  and does not care or have a clue about its capability. I do swing heavily in the "substance over style" direction so I will probably never get it :)

Lol at the comments.

I run this tire on Jessabelle. 37x12.5.17 on a Rhino rim. They are actually great tires on the road, not that noisy at all. Off-road, they are in Beast Mode. Can you hear tire noise, yes. But I also heard tire noise when I had my F150 from Nitto Ridge Grappler's tires I had. Now I have heard some MT tires before. The kind that you can from INSIDE your vehicle with the windows up. Yeah, but no. The Cooper's are not those.

By the By I'm packing up to commute to the trails up north, so it should be a fun weekend. :like:

My Cooper Discoverer STT Pro's did excellent for the 700 mile commute to Moab, made it through Hell's Revenge, Fins & Things, Top of the World, and got me back home 700 miles of interstate later. No complaints. :handsinair:

I admit that Cooper is on my short list now - I was looking for a 37" with 3PMSF rating, but looks like all they have with that is the Discoverer AT3, which isn't nearly as beefy looking as the MTT and is an "All Season" tire. That said, it doesn't look all that different than my Mickey Thompson Baja Legends either... and I haven't seen the AT3 in person.

My only regret was not getting Raised White Letters like I had on my old Chevy :cwl:

I had the Cooper STT Pro 35's on my previous pickup truck and commuted an hour to work with them.

They are a great on and off road tire. For a mud terrain they are a lot lighter than many of the competitors and reasonably quiet. As they got older they definitely got louder but I was really impressed with them.

One other big plus was that they never chucked rocks like the Goodyear Territory MT's.

I liked them so much I am considering replacing the Goodyears with them while I can still fetch decent value for the Goodyears.

My office is technically down 25 dirt and country roads which flood. Does that count as a commuter tire or should I go with the 40 inch ? 😂

Sounds like a legit reason to go to 40’s. 👍

I have the Cooper Rugged Trek's on my truck now and they're the best tires I've ever had. Very smooth and quiet, these have half the sound of the Goodyear's that came on from factory and are twice as aggressive. Will put these on the bronco when the Goodyears are done just wish they had a 315 in D range.

So the commute in central California must be pretty rough?
