So, some old guy decided to try and parallel park in front of my BL, but learned quickly he couldn't drive and scraped the bumper. His car apparently got the worse of it. Insurance was going to replace it (to my surprise), but I picked it up from the dealer and I don't remember the powder coating being as rough. Not that I don't trust the stealerships, but I don't. I requested before I got there to keep the original bumper and got shot some BS about having to send it back to Ford, which I understand was dropped from the program in 2020. Besides you can buy one for $450 direct these days, and I am sure they got it for less. For those with capable bumpers, attaching the before and after shot. There also appears to be visible line on the new bumper as well where to goes under the grill. Appreciate any comparisons before I go 5150 on the dealership. No Bronco on the floor at the moment to view for myself. Will hunt locally for one listed nearby hopefully..

Not sure they actually replaced your bumper. How long did they have it? Because you can tell in comparing the last two pics they just 'cleaned up' the end piece - you can still see where it was rubbed, they just took the paint off it.

If the bumper wasn't otherwise damaged, they may have just taken it off, had it cleaned, and re-powder coated. Which, if you insurance paid for a whole new bumper and a whole new bumper wasn't put on, is insurance fraud, and you can report them. Though without being able to inspect the removed components will be a bit harder to prove.

Regardless, I think I'd be talking to the insurance company with those last two pics. Tell them you're not sure that the repair was completed properly, because at least one piece wasn't actually replaced but just 'cleaned up.' They may or may not look into it, and if they find that parts that were supposed to be replaced WEREN'T, they'll go after the dealership.

I hate shady dealers. The one I deal with lets me bring in a pair of safety glasses and go right into the service bay to see what's going on with my vehicles. But that's because I've been going there for the better part of a decade and know most of the people by name.

That is not a new bumper. The line you refer to and you can still see the small scrape on the outer wing...pretty obvious they just touched it up & recoated.

You can clearly see the plastic part is the original due to the scuff mark. Also does not appear to be properly attached due to the gap. Does the line feel like a step? If so, I'd guess they taped it off and shot some black on your original bumper. Look under and see if the back looks brand new or still dirty and the original before you accuse them of anything. That should be easy to see.

100% same bumper at least as far as the outer component. I would make sure that all comes as a unit and go from there. As mentioned you can see the same scuff. I would be happy with this repair if it was an honest repair, but given that they appear to be lying and probably trying to pocket some excess, I'd be raising hell TBH. That's scammy.

Exact same scenario happened to me but on the rear. The backend of the nice, little old lady’s Subaru was destroyed. My capable had a scuff and some white paint. Took to a collision place and got an estimate of 1700 to replace. Seemed silly to me. 10 minutes and some Goo B gone on my part and literally cant see where the scuff occurred. Call me a fan of that bumper!

Agree 100%. Looks like it was just cleaned up and not replaced.

UPDATE: True confessions - sort of. Luckily they actually had my old bumper with scrape and all. Once they rubbed them both, they were like, "yeah, someone messed up" - while they hadn't located the invoice they swear they get it all through Ford via service dept. and denied 3rd party vendors (ie, refurbed powder coated). Ordering in a new one in and will be sure all is well before calling me back. Just sucks I got to go back down again. Glad I wasn't going nuts for nothing though.

Huh. Well, glad it wasn't insurance fraud. But while they're at it, I'd be making a fuss and telling them to replace the end cap too - it's still scuffed even if they cleaned it up.

Contacted his carrier - already did the supplemental. Just wish the dealer would have done that to begin with.

UPDATE#2 - so far the dealer has had 2 new bumpers delivered, both of which are like the first. They are waiting on a 3rd now from a different warehouse. Should know more next week I suppose after delivery.

Yall making too much of a big deal out of this. Bumper definitely looks fine, there’s no dent or permanent damage to it. I’d say send it. Wouldn’t even waste my time complaining about that.

Could it be possible Ford changed the way they powder coat the bumpers to make it last longer without resting? The new bumper while rougher may actually have a thicker coating. 🤷🏻
