Hello all,

I am happy you all are enjoying your Broncos, I guess I took one for the team!

I am wondering if anyone has actually had Ford approve their buyback without getting a lemon law attorney involved? My car has been at the dealership for getting close to 3 months since I purchased it in September because Ford has no idea how to fix the USB that connects to the entertainment. While I realize this is a minor issue, it was clear Ford wasn’t going to do anything about getting it fixed unless I pursued a buyback.

I waited patiently hoping Ford would take accountability for this since I clearly meet Texas lemon law requirements with 5+ visits to the dealership and well over 2 months under service so far, but was shocked to hear Ford was denying the buyback. They advised that the vehicle has not been under repair for long enough for Texas lemon law even though I have evidence it has been under repair for much longer, and that there is no one I can talk to to even discuss it to see why they denied it. I am now working with a lemon law attorney….. is this common for Ford to deny buybacks even when they clearly meet every requirement for lemon law? And there is no one I can even talk to about it?… Insane

Try another dealership? Every state has kooky laws on this. Florida is pretty cut and dry. Keep moving forward and good luck!!

For a USB port? What's wrong with it? Maybe try requesting some financial compensation instead. No way I'd have my car in repair two months over a USB (especially seeing as I've yet to use my USB port in 1.5 years of ownership).

Wow, I remember your issue from when you posted it. Those ports have a pretty short run, why aren't they just replacing every component in the chain?

It doesn’t work at all. It would be nice to use to charge my phone since the dash usb C isn’t convenient and to be able to connect my phone to the entertainment. Yes I can do wireless CarPlay, but the lag is pretty annoying so I generally prefer to just use wire

They have replaced the USB outlet and the media module(APIM?).. taken it to two different dealers and both couldn’t figure it out and said Ford engineers won’t reply with a fix so they don’t know what to do…

It is at the 2nd dealership, both can’t figure it out. This 2nd dealership it’s at now has been waiting for Ford engineers to provide a fix for over a month

Why can't you take it home and use it till they come up with a fix or is it torn apart?

If I did that, I have no faith they would ever figure out how to fix it. I was hoping me having a rental car for this long would add some urgency.. and now that I’m pursuing lemon law, I have to leave it at the dealer

This is just wild. I am willing to bet its the wiring harness. USB-A only has four pins, USB-C has twenty four. The fact that both don't work tells me maybe a common ground between the two is borked.

Exactly! And the dealership gave OP a rental car this whole time to fix the USB issue?

My superpower is being able to immediately identify bots, trolls and tools. That said, pretty sure OP is not a bot.

They are required to give me a rental car because it is under warranty and I am pursuing a buyback. When you go through the buyback process, the car has to remain at the dealership. Y’all can downplay the issue all you want, but it is a pretty big inconvenience for a lot of people and the fact that you think I should just accept it on a 50k brand new vehicle is pretty ridiculous.

The amount of ford simps is just insane, you post any issue and people come out no matter what defending the company. Downplaying a company taking almost 3 months to fix an issue on a brand new vehicle. Clearly it is a more serious issue than just a bad USB outlet. If there are electrical issues they can’t figure out, how do I know there are not going to be other issues?

Sorry OP, that definitely sucks. I googled it for kicks and was surprised bc it seems like more than a few folks have had the same issue. Has to be frustrating that they can’t just replace parts until they start working. Stuff should work as expected in my book no matter what the issue. I get leaving it there too, feels like it has to force their hand somewhat.

Jealous you got a loaner - I had my last Bronco in a few times and was on my own. Hopefully they get it fixed or get you a good solution so you can start enjoying it.
