One other item I would suggest to anyone installing Kings. Bend out the metal hanger that the reservoir is mounted to so that the reservoir doesn't come in contact with the inner fender liner or metal. The reservoir on my passenger side had some rub marks on it as if it was rubbing on the metal frame of the Bronco. My driver side was rubbing on the liner and making a annoying squeaking sound. I bent both of the out while I had them out and solved both problems.

How much weight do you have in the rear of your vehicle? I would also be interested to see what the rear springs look like on a Bronco with no additional weight and set to King factory settings? Wonder what the top spring looks like.
only thing on the back of mine is a
37 inch Kenda klever 76lbs , icon rebound pro 32lbs
And a tire carrier that weighs under 40 lbs
So maybe under 150lbs

It was my understanding that King is going to re-design the rear shock to have one spring, no more tender spring. Curious how that will work. Fox is heading that direction.

So, was yours drooping in the rear with just this? That is why you swapped out to the 450lb spring? I just got my new wheels and will be going with BFG KM3 37's. I already have my tailgate reinforcement installed ready for the bigger tire.

That would be much better than having this "tender" spring. When I talked to King they acted like I was the first one to have an issue with the rear tender spring fully compressing. They really couldn't even explain the real reason for that tender spring. They told me to change out the main spring and not to worry about the tender spring being fully compressed. That just doesn't make sense to me.

I had to do the same exact thing to mine as well.

I saw your post where you were selling your Icon UCA's. Did you ever figure out a solution? I actually ran into a similar issue with the RPG UCA's and the Gen 2 Kings. I contacted RPG and they had already worked through a solution and redesigned their UCA's. They are getting the new versions through anodizing and will then be replacing mine. Hope to get them soon and get them installed.

I have been in contact with Baja Kits and it looks like their UCA's will clear.. but they are contacting King to get the latest CAD drawing of this shock and will confirm. Waiting for them to respond. I have also seen a photo with the RPG UCA's with the gen2 king shock clearing as well. So maybe this was the redesign?

The issue with king modifying this shock after its been released without issuing a new part number seems to be a real problem. No way for UCA manufacturers who designed their parts around the pre-production version to know until a consumer like myself runs into a problem. I was pretty disappointed in Kings handling of the situation. They didn't seem to want to help me and passed this off as a "UCA" problem. My reseller however (downsouth motorsports) was great. They jumped in right away and connected me with king and pushed for a resolution.. but to no avail. King was not interested.

So.. next step for me is to wait for baja kits (who are also really good to work with) to respond. I will also look into the RPG. I also don't hold out any hope for the ICON UCA as it's really beefy and would require a complete redesign. If I can somehow get my fitting adjusted I probably could stay with the ICON.. but this trial an error is gonna cost money.. and even more time and money to take the shock off and send it away.

BTW .. the ICON Billet UCA will probably work just fine for other remote resi shocks.. just not these king gen2s.

So I just purchased the King shocks and am pretty stoked. Of course I found this thread after ordering them haha. I was also about 1 day away from ordering the Icon billet UCA's too so thanks for that save!

I'm curious if the tubular Icon's will work with the King's... They seem to have more clearance than the billets. RPG is a decent option too I guess.

I am pretty light in the rear right now but have an aftermarket rear bumper on the way as well as a front bumper (only 37 lbs though) and a winch... Hope I don't have sagging issues. Really wondering on what UCA to purchase now though

It will definitely sag with how the rear kings are currently sprung

FWIW, I put Camburg billet UCA’s on mine at the same time I installed the Kings and have had zero issues. Really happy with this setup.

Awesome! I actually was able to confirm with the shop that the tubular Icons will clear so I’m going to try and snag some of those. The Delta Joint they created for the Bronco is phenomenal
