Hey Guys! I haven’t been around the forum much for a while. I had a First Edition Bronco right off the back and then a few weeks ago decided I would take advantage of the rebates on the Braptors and in the meantime sold my FE to my daughter. I am no stranger to Ford. I was a GM of a Ford store for several years and have owned Gen 2 and Gen 3 Raptors, FE Bronco, 4 different Super Duty’s, 2 Excursions, Expeditons, a Fusion, a Taurus and even a Focus ST. But these last two purchases have about ruined me.

My 2024 HO Super Duty has more rattles than any vehicle I have ever owned. Not to mention that I am now on my 3rd Adaptive Cruise Control Module. Every time it goes out I have to take 2 days out of my week to take it back to the dealer that I purchased it from because they are really the only ones willing to change the module. I am super OCD about my vehicles. I don’t beat them, I do my own maintenance (with a little overkill) and I literally hand wash all my vehicles.

So…I decide to pull the trigger on a new Braptor and the dealer said they would deliver it to me Which is about 300 miles. I get that night about 11pm. I get up the next morning and as I begin to pull out of the drive way I hear a horrible clicking noise. Needless to say the IWE is out and it has a whopping 400 miles on it. Not only that but it will have been at the dealer for 2 weeks and it’s still not finished. Now they have to repair the bearings. While they wait for the bearings they decided to take it to my ceramic coating guy and then he sendo a video of a big clear coat run on the driver side back door. It has literally been one thing after another. Are these IWE systems still having problems? Hey Guys! I haven’t been around the forum much for a while. I am pretty discouraged with Ford lately! I am about as true blue Ford as a person can get!

My first ford since a 91 probe I had in highschool back in 2000. Outside of the overall looks (both interior and exterior look great from a design standpoint)and fun driving. So many things don’t line up, feel cheap or already show signs of wear…I’ve had it for a month. The only new vehicle purchase I have literally lost sleep with everything I notice. This week I noticed the front rubber corner window cover piece on the drivers side is manufactured wrong (best guess). It catches on the frame side trim and has worn a hole through to the metal. Last week I noticed while detailing the whole drivers side of the back shell (panel with the window is sticking out much further than the passenger side. How can so much get messed up like this and not noticed. Not even getting into all the gaskets I find not seated correctly or odd body panel gaps. And all the poor folks that had delaminating, or cracked tops. I really wish I was on this forum more for accessories and cool pictures of our vehicles in great locations rather than to look up yet another issue that I see. Even if many of the issues are cosmetic, I’m really not used to seeing this on a brand new car and the most expensive brand new car i have ever purchased.

Sorry to hear of you woes - that totally sux.

My advice would be to get out of the purchase in any way possible including the likely scenario of a Lemon Law. I understand this will not be a popular opinion however, if this is how the vehicle is was delivered, it likely won’t get better!

Cut your losses, don’t ceramic coat, document the problems, work with the dealership to have the vehicle out of service for the appropriate time for a Lemon Law/Buy back whatever and GET OUT NOW before you are too emotionally attached and cannot make a rational decision what to do when the next problem arises.

Good luck!

Don’t look underneath. I’ve found missing bolts, parts installed incorrectly and runs in the paint. Quality control is an absolute joke. Mine idles like a diesel, the top has cracks all over the place and I only have 2k miles!

I have a 23 Braptor 24k miles. No issues other than windshield cracks. My 2016 Jeep on the other hand has had almost everything replaced at least once. 3 engines, transmission, axles, driveshafts, radiator etc. At least it has a lifetime Mopar warranty which is the only reason we still have it.

Sorry you seem to have gotten a dud. I’m 30k miles into a 2022 and only warranty was a replacement steering wheel for a defective heating element. I’ve used mine as intended, except no jumping, and it’s been rock solid.

Bummer. My ‘23 4dr Big Bend Sas has been faultless in 15 months and 16k miles. I do think my dealer did a pretty thorough job of the PDI before I picked it up so maybe they caught a few things other dealers would have delivered the car with. Mine is a soft top with Mid pkg. so some features but none of the safety Nannie’s that seem problematic for many owners. My only complaint is Ford really botched the stereo. And I have spent some time in a B&O equipped Bronco and don’t think it was any better than the base system. Crazy for a near 60k vehicle. Hope your dealer steps up and solves the initial problems.

RCV makes a IWE delete kit
Wow- cheap replacement for $200.

The only downside is constant rotation of the CVs and gears on a daily would impact fuel mileage some and I guess there could be higher wear on the CV, but doubt that would be a problem in either case.

Naw the amount would be VERY small, SAS broncos and ranger Raptors DONT have IWE or axle disconnect, and they do just fine!!!

good points. Is the entire knuckle , bearing and hub assembly directly out of the F-150? The bolt pattern and IWE are both holdovers.

Boy that clear coat run is really, really bad. I've seen blemishes and minor clear coat runs from the factory over the decades but never that obvious. I've owned enough Fords to know that their QA is amongst the worst in the industry but I don't know how that could have made it out the factory. I would check to make sure that the vehicle wasn't repainted after maybe being damaged in freight or something.

NO the knuckles on the f-150 are slightly different. the bearing has its own bolt pattern, different from f150, and the IWE assembly on Braptor is same as older F150 Raptor gen 1? as the new f150s have an electronic IWE , not vacuum like the Braptor and Gen 1 F150 Raptor.

@flip could confirm?

I worked in the auto industry years ago, but still don't understand some of the stupidity they do. I get beefing up the Braptor suspension and drivetrain, why not use what you already have on hand with a similar model year F-150? Why go back to a design from a decade ago that has known failures- especially one that you upgraded from vacuum to electronic likely because of those failures??
