I went into my garage to start my 2024 Bronco Raptor today, it was completely dead, nothing, no lights, no dash lights, etc... 11 months old, 12k miles. I'm in my garage for hours a day/night, no interior/exterior lights left on.
I checked the battery voltage with a Fluke meter, 5.1 VDC. The truck has been sitting unused a few days which is not unusual, zero warning on the failure. I put a quality charger on it for 3+ hours, still nothing... Voltage still reads 5.1 VDC with the harness connected and the same with the harness disconnected reading only from the isolated battery.
The only thing 'unusual' was that 2 days ago I opened the Ford App on my phone to check the trucks milage.
It will not turn over or jump start with a large portable battery pack, several lights barely flicker.
I called my local Ford dealer, explained the situation, and requested Mobile Service to replace the battery. Service is scheduled for tomorrow..
I've had several Motorcraft batteries fail prematurely ( Maverick, Platinum Expedition, Platinum Explorer) but not quite this quickly. It seems (for me) they fail with infant mortality within the first ~18 months, or last 6+ years).
More to come.....
PS.. The only way I see to connect a jump to the positive terminal with via the thin bolt sticking up above it, I see no way to get the large clamp into the actual + terminal.. ??
