Hello!
recently joined the community and just looking to round out my gears!
my ride is mostly a pavement princess but I usually go on trips a couple times a year.
I know the underhood ARB duo motor is widely loved by the community but I can't justify spending 1k on something that will be used a handful of times a year.
Is there another (preferably underhood) compressor that is more budget friendly (I'm thinking roughly 250 for whole set up) that I should be on the look out for?
I've heard good things about the NAPA maxi trac, trickflate 300, thor's lightning etc, Im looking for something that I can have on the car daily and can use the car's power with no issue, ideally with a auto top feature.
Hoping to find something like the ARB where it's part of the vehicle with easy set up when used. Should I just save up for the ARB? šŸ˜“

Additionally, if someone can recommend some inflator tubing to go along with the compressor it would be great! (ideally for both inflate and deflate, but I'm content to use the brass screw on ones as well)

Thanks!

I’m sure this will be an unpopular opinion. DeWalt cordless compressor. Portable, useful around the house, toss it in the storage box with an extra battery along with my cordless impact. Can run it off a power source from the Bronco or use the Bronco to recharge battery packs in the road.

I will keep that in mind, I know equipment manufacturing (DeWalt, Milwaukee, etc) are pretty reliable, do you know if they would work with a 4 way tire inflation system? or is it still recommended to be do 1 tire at a time.

I’m not sure it could stand up to a 4-way honestly. I haven’t used it to filled my 38’s yet. But I used to use it on the 33’s on my side by side and it worked well enough.

That price is def hard to beat. thank you for this find!
Would u also recommend their 2-way / 4-way hose?
They're me, so yes 🤣. Use the make offer and I'll sweeten the deal, I can accept $20 off on the complete set.

ARB Dual Compressor without the logo

Just as good and as fast as the ARB in my Expedition for 60% less!!!.
Been using this for about 2 years with no issues. Probably from the same factory that makes ARB.
Same accessories come with it that come with the ARB model.

Awesome. Trickflate is what I’m leaning towards right now. Just exploring more options as it’s not a time sensitive matter.
Thanks for the input!

IMHO….
- For deflate get some HIGH quality accurate deflators. Stauns are great. $90
- Get a portable compressor with decent flow rate. Everyone will have an opinion on the best options. Spend maybe $150.
- Don’t waste your time on 4 way hose kits. Just watch the dash TPMS and move from tire to tire. It’s just as fast…as the compressor is not trying to fill 4 at once, and you avoid the hassle of untangling and repacking all that spaghetti. I’d rather have root canal than eff with 4 hoses, but that’s just my preference for simplicity. Many people differ and love those things.

I currently use a dual ARB under hood, with a single hose, after about three years of using my portable. It’s only about 3 minutes faster than my old setup, ignoring the time to pack and repack it. And it’s just as fast as 4 hoses.

I see! Would probably be what I ended up going with. Like @BroncNasty said. It would be the versatile choice as it can also be used around the house.
ARB is probably going to be the end goal down the line, maybe couple years from now but yea.
Would u recommend a particular one? I’m thinking about one from a major tool brand like Dewalt or Milwaukee
