Looking for advice

Hi,

took the Bronco in for a front pinion leak under warranty. Got done in a few days, so far so good so I went to pick it up. Driving home it started to smell like gear oil. Yep, leak was worse. Took it back, waited, eventually got told they were going to replace the whole diff. Ok... After about a month, finally have it back. Given what happened before, I crawled underneath to take a look. Brand new diff indeed, but then I noticed this

Yeah. Service rep told me to just keep an eye on it, but I'm not sure I will trust this too long. Now given past experience, I am also leery of taking it in again, don't want to wait another month...

lower ball joint?
Is it under warranty? I’d take it to another dealer, if not, replace it myself.

It's one with the arm, otherwise yeah I'd do it myself. Unless I can replace the boot only? Anyone know if that is possible?

Make them replace it. Torn boot means short life for the ball joint. Get them to order the part and then make an appointment when you know the part is in stock. Specify you’re only willing to leave it there one day.

You have to replace the whole lower control arm as it's non serviceable Looked into that one before.

Urgh... Yeah I'll probably do that, but first Moab it's the perfect time of year.

That’s unacceptable and clearly a total failure on the part of the servicing dealer. How did they let it leave the shop like that?

Not sure, we usually make a weekend out of it on a whim. If there's a group going I can plan around that maybe. Is there a thread for that trip?
