Best way to fix the creaking is take them off. The LCA are strong enough and don't need the protection anyway.

The LCAs themselves are strong, but most of us use the skids because of the bolts/nuts are vulnerable.Best way to fix the creaking is take them off. The LCA are strong enough and don't need the protection anyway.
That’s exactly the reason. The LCAs themselves are strong, but most of us use the skids because of the bolts/nuts are vulnerable.
Agree with that, the factory orientation was not good. That's why I reversed the bolts so they would not stick out like they did. That’s exactly the reason.
I took mine off today after contemplating you picture a bit. I too had rub marks there and a little in the front. I decided to buy a thin hdpe Sheet and riveted it on the skid where it would make contact with those areas. It wasn't much of an ordeal besides getting the right size rivet. You can drill through that aluminum like nothing. I'll check in after a few Weeks with status. So, I took the LCA skid plates off again, and will leave them off this time. But, I did take a picture underneath. There are wear marks on the bottom of the LCA's where the skid plates were touching. See the highlighted areas in the picture. Maybe this is where the creaking is coming from? Just a thought, because I put enough rubber on those top skid mounts to make sure they weren't touching metal to metal at all. And, they still creaked.

I've heard of at least one other brand doing it, can't recall which, was in the forums somewhere. edit: on page one of this thread someone said Dv8 is doing it tooThis seems to be with asfir specifically, right?
Wouldn't this simply rub on the rivets at that point? Or is there a different contact point?I took mine off today after contemplating you picture a bit. Contact point appears to be much closer to the edge, see dark areas, from what I saw after install the rivets aren't touching.Wouldn't this simply rub on the rivets at that point? Or is there a different contact point?
Checking in after many months and a few offroad trips. The polyethylene solved my creaking issue. I can't recall hearing it once since I installed. This was the material I used that I cut in pieces shaped as you see in the picture using a cutting tool. Just make sure you get the correct length rivet.I took mine off today after contemplating you picture a bit. I too had rub marks there and a little in the front.
