Kicker Key 200.4 Done Correctly

Great thread.

I have previous experience with a Kicker Key200.4, in a 2022 GMC Canyon (non-Bose) running bi-amp in front with Kicker 2.75 "tweeters" and factory door speakers. I was very impressed with how it sounded. Had a harness made with unterminated wires for the tweeters which I extended as needed.

That said, can I still expect a noticeable improvement if I install a Key200.4 in my 2026 Bronco with B&O? Are you guys and gals installing it under the dash? This would make running new wires easier.

I recently installed Infinity Reference 4" speakers in the dash and was disappointed in how they sounded. I have since removed them while I pursue other affordable upgrades.

Mounted right below the steering wheel on the little panel that is so popular. Works great.

I think there are some B&O specific threads you can check first. Speakers alone usually only help and little.

Round two with DSP. All dip switches are down, except for the 60Hz crossover. I may add compression as I'm still getting clipping at volume 19. Again, 15 is pretty much my highest listening volume but I want to test so it all is working properly.

The systems sounds MUCH better now. The tweeters are balanced, not bright. I also have some 6.5" coaxial speakers in bigger back pods, and moved the fader so they're noticeable but not overpowering. I like.

I read online that lower clipping levels can be normal on the Bronco head unit, and that a Line Output Converter (LOC) between the head unit and the Key 200.4 can help. Maybe later.

My next steps are to figure out the subwoofer and to cut a hole in the protectors behind the Memphis kick speakers so they can move freely.

Would you recommend the 6.5’s in the rear? I’ve been loving the bi amp setup up front but just wondered if a larger full range speaker would give some extra rear fill to the sound.

In theory you could change the rear pod EQ to full range and those 6.5 may give more volume. But with head unit power I’m not sure it will be hugely different. I personally like just enough from the pods for fill.
