I wonder if it's only if you have XM active. Someone on the page from that link says it's from a contract with XM. If this keeps going I'll probably not buy a Jeep again and I'll be canceling my XM soon.

Sounds like it's only if you have an XM subscription. I absolutely refuse to pay for that service anyway so I'd have no way to tell.

I'm going to swim upstream and say just about all new vehicles will have extensive advertising in them 10 years (or at least 20), and 999/1000 buyers will resign themselves to it.

Commercial advertising is everywhere, and most everyone posting here is exposed to it all the time for a wild amount of exposure. Most of you have commercial TV that your eyballs are on for hours everyday. Most don't run ad blockers on your desktops (where it is easy) or your phones (where it is a bit more difficult). This is not an indictment, its just the facts.

I'm a freak - I don't have commercial advertising on my TV (so add free streaming only - I even load my DVD/Blueray's up to computer for trailer free, full control playback), nor on my computer (desktop and phone) screens. Heck, YouTube is probably not going to be viable for me much longer as they will eventually disable ad block tech used by (a tiny percentage) of consumers. However I'm the exception that proves the rule that most people may grumble, but are in fact well acclimated to advertising and just consider it part of the cost of, well everything.

Soon every manufacturer will have almost continuous advertising in almost every model (certainly all the desirable ones), and there won't be much that can be done about it. What can be done (e.g. future "AdStop Eliminators") will only be done by 1 out of a 1000 owners, if that.

What regulation occurs will be in the name of "safety", but it will be largely toothless as there is just too much $ involved, as Carl Sagan would say "$billions and $billions and $billions......".

No offense intended, but ya'll sound like an alchoholic saying "this is my LAST drink - THIS is the line in the sand I will NOT cross!!" just before he orders another :ROFLMAO:

I'm afraid @crenca is right - this is just the first few drops before the dam bursts wide open and it's in every car.

I mean, how long has it taken streaming services to go with ads, often along with paid subscription fees? I dropped SXM because I couldn't take all the ads on the talk channels. There just isn't much out there that isn't ad-free...

Billboards just aren't enough, because you need advertisements when you are off road too.

And here i thought it couldn't get any worse than subscription-based vehicle features... I was sadly proven wrong yet again.

They got the singularity wrong, it will happen when ad tech merges with AI and nobody can tell the difference.

Paying the $3 (Prime) and $15 (YT) subscription fees to miss out on all the awesome commercials (that aren't interleaved in the media... ) is a bargain, so they will most likely not last forever. I know they're leaving (a lot) money on the table not being able to sell my attention.

TV companies have already rewritten their policies for using your their TVs so they can not only pay attention to what you're doing, but also do things like play ads instead of screensavers (Roku already does this, unobtrusively!!). Shell gas stations show ads as you're getting gas. Refrigerators with screens will, too.

Every platform that's connected can be enshittified at gross profit margins. Every platform can be turned into an influence machine. When you can't get anything done without consulting an AI ("Hello door! Let me in." "Sure John, what do you think of these socks??"), you'll wonder if that slide into human obsolescence was really a razor ride to a certain kind of hell (sponsored by OmniGlobalCore as seen on TV!!).

You can, you just have to put in the effort to install adblockers, script/image/video blockers, use non-popular browsers, etc. There are consequences sometimes, for example on my Ipad and Andriod phone this site will occasionally "freeze" my browser, I suspect by interactions with my peculiar browsers/script blockers, but it's a small price to pay for me...but then I have been doing this for years so my tolerance for ads is very very low. For most people they hardly notice them...

I have some questions.....

1. The whole point of Sirius/XM was pay for music, no commercials. Though you get stuck listening the DJ's talk all time. Did something change in that regards?
2. How can anyone state this is part of the contract with Sirius/XM when the ad shown in the video appears to be for an extended warranty from Jeep?

In the end, I guess this is what everyone ends up with, they all wanted these fancy electronics, now it's just another way for car companies to feed us useless ads.
