One wonders if the Stellantis board room is made up of members who daily compete against one another by conjuring up ways to: 1) drive their existing customers absolutely bat shit; and 2) conjuring up ever irksome ways to scare away new customers. 🤷‍♂️

Thanks for that I guess, but I still want to listen to my Pandora through the vehicle speakers. Not sure after watching the video if I would still have that option. I also do not have the SOS or the "WiFi" through Att or the 7 inch screen. Mine is the 5.

Thanks you
Rod

If I were Ford or another manufacturer, it would be very tempting to see how much $ it would take to get Stellantis to play my advertisements.

Heh, yeah, I like to think of a boardroom full of tan suits all just firing off ideas like this until they land on these gems.

I think it's probably closer to "If you don't come up with some new revenue streams, there's no bonuses for you schmucks!" And people come up with this knowing that customers will hate it, but just do it anyways

I wonder if it's only if you have XM active. Someone on the page from that link says it's from a contract with XM. If this keeps going I'll probably not buy a Jeep again and I'll be canceling my XM soon.

'You can't watch movies on the infotainment center, but our ads are no problem!'
I attempted to cancel my subscription to XM several years ago. It was handled by an offshore operator, who instead renewed me at their outrageous annual fee. Never forgot that. They will never get another penny from me. I use TuneIn radio now; far better and far cheaper.

Yah, they're a complete pain. They won't let you cancel in the app or online. You HAVE to call. I listen to it a ton, but I'm getting close to calling it quits.

Sure glad my JL didn't come with this "feature".

I hate touchscreens in vehicles with a passion as it is, without ads....

One day people will want cars without all the screens and technology.
I can't wait. Sooner of later the safety goons will get a clue to how distracting it all is and outlaw it.

BG6 Forum is already on the bandwagon...seven different pop-up adds as I read through this thread. Can't even read in peace(y)
I use Adblock Plus on my computer, tablet, and phone and rarely ever see an ad.

I'm too am surprised the Safety Sallys haven't band these giant screens. Remember that in the 1970's, when those little TVs came out, it was illegal to have them in the front seat with the driver? Or wearing earpieces/headphones? Or having loud mufflers on the old GTO?

So yeah.

Just had a long drive today and this really hit home.

At night, the screen light bothers me - I like to turn the screen off. But... to do so, I have to dig through a bunch of Sync menus. And any time you want to do anything that requires the screen, like seeing the clock time, or changing the radio station, the screen comes back on, and you have to dig through all those menus again to turn it off.

I don't like the screen - but for just Radio stuff, I don't mind it so much (so glad the HVAC isn't on there). But not being able to shut it off or have an auto-dim/blank or something is not good. To be honest - the LCD screen on the dashboard does the same thing - I wish I could turn that off too.

My Wife's Sport has a button just to turn the screen off - no digging through menus needed. I'm totally jealous of that button.
