The base Bronco was not available with the tow package, you had to go up to a higher trim to get that. But it's easy to add the hitch and wiring. It's pretty limited for towing but should handle loads under 2000 lbs easily. It's super easy to maneuver with the short wheelbase but I would think heavy longer towing would be worrisome. I tow my boat 10 minutes to the ramp and it weighs under 1000 lbs so no big deal. The Ford Performance Procal tune helps with towing since it speeds/firms up the shifts so you would probably want that.

This is random and not related to the topic of gas mileage on 2 door Broncos.

The 2023 Base Sas 2.7 2 door Bronco seems like a standard choice for many 2023 owners. Does the Sasquatch option come with larger tires/wheels standard/stock? Is the Sasquatch a 2023 Base Sas 2.7 2 door Bronco. I have been waiting 2 years to ask about the 2023 2 door Broncos.

Are owners generally happy with their 2023 purchases?

Can I buy a used 2023 2 door Bronco with a tow package option, rated to a certain tonnage for tow recommendation, and how are the transmissions on these Tow Package Bronco's holding up? Is the Ford tow package option good enough if towing in hills or mountains or are there owners who make modifications to enhance towing abilities?

We are not looking to have the F-350 tow package for a Bronco, but we would like to tow certain heavy loads, like our single axle trailer full of firewood, or a load to the dump. Maybe an Oliver two axle travel trailer could be towed on the interstate from Phoenix to Flagstaff, but we don't want to burn out a transmission.

Now that 2023 Bronco owners are putting some miles on these 2 doors, we are almost in the market to buy a used 2023 Base Sas 2.7 2 door Bronco or even a tricked-out Sasquatch with different bells and whistles. We really miss our 1991 Eddie Bauer. We always kept the original stock wheel size, and that probably helped keep gas mileage reasonable. That Bronco was my daily commuter.

The towing on these are great. The engine and trans are from the Ranger anyway, which was already proven. I have towed a lot with mine, but the longest tow was a trailer with 2 heavy motorcycles and a bunch of other crap that filled the trailer move xcountry

Lucky, mine only goes down more after each change. I'm down a good 8-10 mpg from stock.

What was that 10 gal worth?

I was not buying gas until the 80’s and it was under a dollar a gallon.
It wasn't the amount of gas, but the fact that you could only buy gas every other day based on the last digit of your license plate (this was in CA and at the time license plate number ended in 3 digits). Odd number, you can buy gas on odd-numbered days. Vice-versa for even numbers as the last digit of your license plate.

So people just got in the habit of getting gas every other day, because if you needed gas on the opposite day you were hosed. And also remember that most cars in that day and age got around 10 mpg, so a full tank didn't get you as far as today's cars.

The rule was well-intentioned, but caused irrational behavior and a hoarding mentality. People wasted hours waiting to "top off" their tank on the off chance that they needed to drive 200 miles the next day.

Yeah but were you paying 0.40 cents a gallon after it doubled from the shortage.
At that price 8 mpg was still looking pretty good. 😉

The price was irrelevant. It was the fear of not being able to get gas when you needed it that drove behavior, not the price. The poor MPG of cars at the time made that behavior worse, and coincidentally what really jump-started the Japanese car market in the US. Their cars got 2x the MPG of the typical US-made car at the time.

The 70’s gas crisis is what’s irrelevant here

So I just filled up yesterday and I think we're fully back to summer gas now. This last tank was mostly around town 45 mph and less and I towed the boat to put it back in the water for the season. The tank came out to just over 19 mpg (and that's with no correction done to speedo so it would have been closer to 20) so I think it's a good baseline since installing the 37's, 2" lift, FP tune, Mishimoto intercooler with charge pipes and Corsa intake.

These motors do excellent in town and under 65mph. We keep the speed down. 10k miles on 37s (skinny). 19.6mpg average. 24.3 best. 15.5 worst. Fairly solid to get 20-21mpg around town / hwy.

2.3L 7 speed. 37x11.5R17. Skids / Winch / Sliders / Bumpers. FP Tune. Muffler delete.

We easily gained 2mpg removing the radiator and intercooler grille shutter assembly (completely). And designed a front bumper to direct air into the intercooler. Cooler temps = better mpg

Don't block or reduce intercooler & radiator air flow!

Yeah, I removed the intercooler shutters when I installed the Mishimoto intercooler even though they can be retained with the Mishi cooler.

So I finally had a chance to do an extended drive when I ran to the beach to catch the boat races. It was some highway driving (68-70 mph) and mostly 50-62 mph open road with some 30-35 stop and go with lots of lights when I went to LBI after the races. The computer had me at 21.3 mpg and when I filled up it came out to 21.3 which really surprised me. The most recent mod I did was the CVF intake about a month ago. The truck felt a lot better doing this drive with the mods and 37's compared to last year when it only had the exhaust and 35's.

I have a 2022 2 Door base, 2.7 with the Sasquatch package. All stock except for 3" MBRP CAT back exhaust. I get good MPG for what it is. The MBRP helped the MPG- at least a little. I averaged around 22.7 before and it went up to about 22.8, 22.9 now. I can get 23- 24 on my commute to work- driving at perfect speeds of 52- 57 MPH on back roads, couple of stops. I run 37- 38 PSI in the tires.

In the 70's I lived through the gas crisis- I remember it well- the waiting in line, the license plates and odd, even numbers on different days of the week. My dad has a 73 Chevelle with a 350 V8- it burned gas like no tomorrow. We waited in line together. I had a brand new 79 Jeep CJ5 with 304 V8, 3 speed manual. That was a fun and powerful vehicle in it's day. Anyway, I would bring an extra 5 gallon gas can when I filled up the Jeep. I did a lot of 4 wheeling in the mountains back then and I needed the extra gas. I don't remember the Jeep being a gas guzzler- it was light and the 304 had good torque, similar to the Bronco in many ways.....except I loved the 3 speed manual way more than the automatic in the Bronco, LOL.

JT58, did you notice your speedometer reading a little high with the stock 35's? Mine was always off (read high) when I went past speed traps and now with the 37's it's dead on the money. So that means my mpg with the 35's was around 6% higher than what it really was.

Maybe 1 MPH higher sometimes, depends on the speed trap.
