I was finally asked the stupidest question.

I was filling up the BBR with gasoline, and this Tacoma on other side of pump asked me the stupidest question ……… “Hey man, what kind of Jeep is that?”

I just stared before calmly replying “The one made by Ford….”

Response was “cool about time Ford starting making Jeeps.”

I wasn’t sure what to say. I know not everyone are car enthusiasts but I wasn’t sure if he was kidding or not.

I think our society is becoming stupider by the generation lol.

Your blowing this out of proportion. "Jeep" is often used to refer to a vehicle type especially outside of the United States. In the Philippines a Jeep can be from Toyota, Mitsubishi or their super cool Jeepneys they hand fabricate. Its no different than using the term "Scotch tape" to refer to any brand of clear plastic tape. That said I agree with your closing comment, but not for this reason. And that is all I can say about that!

I just have adopted the fact of my nephew calling everything which is taller than him a monster truck (age 4). So we technically drive all monster trucks. Seems solid enough .

In Chicago having your vehicle designated as a truck will get you a ticket driving on Lake Shore Drive. Unsuspecting pickup drivers sometimes find that out the hard way.

On the other hand, the state (at least) calls my wife's Bronco a "2 OR 4 DOOR WAGON" on the registration.

Are these even allowed on Lake Shore Drive?

As a writer, regional colloquialisms fascinate me. Many are being lost because of homogenized American media, alas. In Boston, we used to call all soda pop "tonic," including CocaCola, Orange Crush, all of them. Tonic" as a carbonated quinine-tasting beverage was "tonic" only in the context of mixing with alcohol. same with "soda" -- strictly a mixer with alcohol.
If you asked for a milk shake, you got milk with syrup blended into it. If you wanted ice cream included, you called it a "frappe."
And a water fountain (for drinking) was called a bubbler.
I never hear those terms any more. I think we've lost something.

Returning to the OP & thread, sure, some people just aren't naturally savvy about vehicle marques. I have no trouble pointing out, "Sir, this is actually a Ford Bronco." I had my MEKMagnet on last summer, a gray toppo design that matches my carbonized gray. A guy said, "That's the best looking Bronco I've ever seen!"
I thanked him. Sure made my day!

Don't hate. I have been immensely amused by the BBR.

I wish he lived in Arizona. He would lose it with our perpetual dust. I had a black 4runner and it was a filthy mess within 4 hours after I washed it.

One time my neighbor's landscaper dusted it with a leaf blower. It was close to an international incident happening.

A number of years ago, I was walking across a street in a very wealthy community and there was a guy waiting at the light in then new Aston Martin DB9, this during Ford's era of ownership. I quipped "Nice Ford" as I walked by. Man did he get a pissed look on his face. Sometimes you just can't resist.

Might be fun to de-badge the Bronco and slap Jeep emblems on it. Maybe even Suzuki Samurai stickckers. That'd be a hoot. Admittedly I haven't figured out how I'm going to cover up the giant FORD emblem up front on the grille.

don't be annoyed. Recognize that there's a big world out there, one that other people live in but you don't. At the end, it's more socially profitable (and better for your blood pressure) to let shit like that slide and accept that he doesn't live in your "live and die on specifics" world.

And your Firebird was indeed a cool looking Camaro.
