I just ordered the Heritage Bronco when the order banks opened today. I'm fairly confident it will be built and delivered some time between 3 to 60 months! When it does arrive, i'd love to switch the LCD. Anyone done this yet? I have the mid package that comes with the Heritage.

So... it's possible for sure. But it's going to be probably close to $5000 in parts (most of which are currently on backorder), another $2000 or so in software, and a whole heap of programming nonsense to work through.

Definitely not economical or a quick-and-easy thing to do.

Wow!! That would be a non-starter. Why so much, what needs to be done?

Have to replace the screen, the dash trim pieces, APIM (Sync module), a bunch of wiring, etc. I don’t know the current pricing on these, but last I checked they were retailing around $1000/ea for the modules, screen was $800/ea. Just the dash trim alone was $560, and because you got a Heritage it’s going to be much more than that since it’s a single-trim panel. $5000 may be a little high of a guess but I was staying conservative since prices fluctuate all the time. It’s definitely going to be several thousand regardless of how you look at it.

And then you have to buy FDRS and a VCM3. VCM3 is the piece of hardware that connects your laptop to the vehicle—costs $1600 (pre-tax/shipping). FDRS is the software Ford uses for diagnostics and programming, last I checked it was around $1000/year, but they have a 30 day license for $200.

And then you have to program it all. Because it’s not an out-of-box configuration It’s going to take some work to figure it out.

I had to sell my pimped out OBX (skids, PPF) as it did not have the tow package. I am waiting for Heritage w tow to be build. I hate to downgrade to the 8in screen w/o the cameras but will get used to it.
I am following some threads here how to add non OEM cameras ideally streaming to an iPad on the dashboard for the occasions I will need the camera info.

Just curious what you’re planning on towing? From my experience here it’s a lot easier to bolt on a hitch and wire the 4pin connector than it would be to upgrade to a 12” infotainment.

If you end up pulling it off please end up sharing here. You’ll be in high demand that’s for sure! 😂

You'd need about $2000-2500 for the parts (not paying full retail)
Around $150 for a j2534 pass-thru device.
Then $50 for a 2 day FDRS license.

So close to $2700ish

Wouldn't be easier to add the factory tow equipment (and a lot cheaper) then selling, and swapping out 1/4 of the dash?

I was able to add the tow hitch module, ect, and reprogram it in a weekend. it wasn't terribly difficult.

Did you create a thread on the process?
