Looking to purchase a two door Bronco, pretty much exclusively to use off road, trails, etc., especially in the Southwest/Utah. Not planned to be a daily driver.

Was pretty much decided on a Badlands, but recently came across an Outer Banks with SAS, High, Lux for a pretty good deal.

Wondering how much I will regret not having the electronic stab disconnect...... This is my first foray into off-roading, I have never done any before and not sure how much it would be used.

For those that have that feature and off-road, how much do you find yourself actually using it?

Thanks

I use it almost any time I am driving off-road. Even if I don’t need max articulation, disconnecting the front stabar significantly improves the ride over rough terrain.

Not having the sway bar tied in to the computer is the way to go. You can buy one aftermarket and wire it in, then use it at whatever speed you like. Bonus that it doesn’t disable your drive modes if it breaks and it doesn’t reconnect if you need to restart the engine in precarious situations.

Same, use it often at lower speeds for both articulation as well as comfort.

i use it all the time off road, I’ll even see some place I want to drive up on and then use the sway bar I find it fun. I also use it bc it makes driving in areas a little more comfortable. If it’s a badlands without sas, I believe it has the most amount of articulation out of any other spec of bronco. I might be wrong about that but it is very flexy

This. Exactly.

I use it every time I off road, well worth having!

( non-sas Badlands, SB disconnected, rear driver tire 1/2ā€ off the ground )

As sierra said you can add it and put it on an upfitter. As you have never wheeled I'd suggest an offroadeo or some event that caters to the new. Find a club or some friends to wheel with. I use mine every time I am in 4x4 I hate when it reconnects. I will probably delete it if someone doesn't hack the Body control module first.

I use it a lot, but I also just had the Bronco down for a week while it was replaced after water made its way inside the case. Being able to disconnect the swaybar is very nice, but there are other ways to do that besides optioning it from the factory.

Thanks for all the responses so far. Appreciate it. Seems like it is good to have and used.

Someone mentioned offrodeo due to my neophyte status: I definitely plan on it. I saw they have a "bring your own bronco" option if I don't buy new (currently not planning on that with the current stop sale). I go by the Moab location on sr128 all the time on my trips. Unfortunately, due to life events, I will be on my own most/all the time.

Other mentions of the elec stab disc potentially malfunctioning or such issues (water in it). I have not come across that so far in all of my reading here. Is that remotely common?

Gear is god by yourself.
Ha ha.....yep. I have already been researching all of that here and making lists of what to get.

I have already been doing alot of biking on my own for 4 summers now out there. I have grown particularily fond of the bears ears area (amongst others). Love to disperse camp/boondock in my camper as well. I've grown accustomed to the solo operations with that...ha ha. I probably have 300 pounds or more of stuff in the back of my camper for eventualities.

Definitely wont be hardcore just starting out and/or by myself

I added it on a switch to my Big Bend and use it pretty much every time I leave the pavement…and yes it did fail and need to be replaced…no serviceable parts…but it is the best option out there imho…
